We Were Promised Jetpacks

"The first thing you forget about We Were Jetpacks is how young they are. When your speakers crackle with surges of gratifying guitar squalls or when this breathless dazzle of uninhibited anthem-building is taken to a stage, the Jetpacks define themselves by the magic they create with their hands, not by their 1987 birth dates." [The Pop Cop]
Scotland's We Were Promised Jetpacks are visiting our country for SXSW this week. Unfortunately, their only NYC show is the sold-out Wrens/Titus Andronicus KEXP gig at Bowery Ballroom on Friday (3/12). If you have a ticket and want to see them, get there early, they are the first of three. if you're going to Austin, you can catch them on Friday, March 20th at La Zona Rosa, and the other places listed below.

We Were Promised Jetpacks will release its debut LP in June 2009 on Fat Cat Records, the same label of fellow Scots and friends Frightened Rabbit (who played NYC in January). The two bands will perform together at Scala in London in April.

Though Frightened Rabbit might not have any stateside shows coming up, other Scotish bands set to appear at both the Austin fest and NYC include Camera Obscura (Bell House & Mercury Lounge), Primal Scream (MHOW & Webster Hall), and Glasvegas (MHOW & Webster Hall).

The Wrens will also be at SXSW and have a Brooklyn show coming up that is still on sale.

these guys are like frightened rabbit meets the killers...they could be huge.

does anyone else sort of hear tons of emo influences in this stuff? when i hear this, i think of a scottish promise ring or braid.

great night all around ... jetpacks blew me away, they will be stars very soon. titus, too, rocked it out. wrens are a great band with amazing songs, but they can be sort of a mess live, and the mix last night during their set was atrocious. sweet guys, though, and their songs make me cry ...

Some time ago, I really needed to buy a good house for my organization but I did not earn enough cash and couldn't buy anything. Thank heaven my father proposed to get the credit loans from trustworthy bank. Thence, I acted so and used to be satisfied with my term loan.
