France's Phoenix performed "1901" on SNL over the weekend and London's The Rakes will probably play their new song "1989" at their two NYC shows this week. Moving on...

Scotland's 1990s, a band we haven't heard much about since the end of 2007 when they toured the States with Art Brut and The Hold Steady, just released Kicks, their second record, which is out now on Rough Trade Records. In support of that album, the band has a North American tour planned for May/June. That tour includes a Thursday, May 28th show at NYC's Mercury Lounge (tickets on sale now) and a Saturday, May 30th show at Brooklyn's Southpaw (tickets for that show are on sale too).

All tour dates, and a video for the band's new song "59," with Kicks' art and track list, below...

'Cookies' was THE WORST album I heard in all of 2007. Yeah, I know, it's cliched to diss bands on this site...but seriously...these guys are just god awful! They have somehow managed to combine the absolute worst elements of every single here-today-gone-tomorrow indie band of the past decade.

i can't get into these guys at all. and that's just based on looks.

omg i love these guys!!! they're the perfect music for doing coke in a Williamsburg loft while i'm studying for my finals at NYU while wearing neon American Apparel clothing! Srsly!

Is that video for real? I thought I was watching some Flight of the Conchords-esque parody of what an indie band should be. But then it went on for too long. And wasn't funny. Or good. And then I was mad that I just wasted 3 minutes of my life.

"Cookies" is one of the most fun, happiest, fresh new CDs I've heard in a long time! I hope the new music is just as good.

I agree. "Cookies" is a great album. I wish more music was this original.

Cookies was fantastic! these guys are the real thing. Most brooding posers who think they are inde rockers could be locked in a room for a year
and not even come close to this. If you dont get it--you dont get it.. it doesnt meen it sucks.

See you at the lights... do you have any idea how good that is????????????
As for the tool who reviewd the CD without listening to it... keep up the good work. Maybe you could intern on "The Glenn Beck show" He seems to be just about as thorough:)
