Animal Collective @ Grand Ballroom (more by Zach Dilgard)
Animal Collective

Tickets are still on sale for Animal Collective's August 14th show at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Tickets are on "Internet Presale" NOW for a show at the same venue one day later (Saturday, August 15th). As usual, the password is unknown, but I wouldn't worry about it. Tickets go on regular sale for the new show on Wednesday (@ noon).

David Byrne, Taj Mahal, Kuroma, Suckers (also opening for MGMT), and others are also playing Celebrate Brooklyn shows in Prospect Park this summer.

Cobral...........

Posted by Regular reader | April 7, 2009 1:41 PM

grouper opens most of the dates. i hope the crowd is respectful, her music is really quiet.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 1:49 PM

shouldn't they wait for the first day tickets to sell out? so that'll be 5 ny shows for animal collective by august and they better be damn good to not burn out new york

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 1:49 PM

No way, 1:49. At Terminal 5, most of the crowd is there to socialize and get drunk. Grouper doesn't stand a chance of getting any respect from the T5 crowd.

why would i want to go see animal collective to see them preform that shit album MPP

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 1:55 PM

I thought when you said 2nd Brooklyn show added....you meant MHOW! But boooooo

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 2:00 PM

anon 2:00

me too!

good for them, and MPP is far from a shit album. but you're too cool now...soo....

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 2:16 PM

Please stop booking bands I want to see at Terminal 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the worst venue in NYC not named Nokia Theater.

Posted by BTW | April 7, 2009 2:33 PM

Terminal 5 is pretty bad... but at least it's good for certain electronic/dance acts because it's basically an industrial complex. But Roseland is just shit all the time, and sans A/C during the summer so it's like 100 degrees in there.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 2:43 PM

On a not so related note, but related in the outdoor summer shows sense. I just noticed that Conor Obersts summer tour ends July 3rd in Conneticut. I am going to guess that he will be playing one of the many 4th of July shows NYC usually has. Either Prospect Park, or Battery Park.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 2:51 PM

this hurts me.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 3:53 PM

i hate terminal 5. bring back carbon. i kid, i kid.

in all seriousness though: worst.venue.everrrrr.

Posted by mirage | April 7, 2009 4:03 PM

So, who will be giving out lsd at the terminal 5 show? :) that venue fucking sucks, but I am still gonna go- love ac's live shows

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2009 4:14 PM

I really can't understand why people rag on Terminal 5 so much... sound there has always been above par, many places to get great views of the stage. Sure it ain't as tiny as Bowery or MHoW... but as far as larger venues go, it blows away Roseland at least.

I have yet to see one show there that had bad sound.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:40 AM

i agree 12:40, these guys are a bunch of whiners

for a venue of that size, it is pretty decent; it's not like you guys could do much better

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:54 AM

so rad can't wait i hope these shows sell out really fast so they doooooo add a musichall show
that would be insane

does anyone else predict that either the may tour or the summer showcase will barely be mpp songs at all, but mostly old songs reworked?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 9:17 AM

what if.........
wait for it wait for it......

PANDA BEAR OPENED FOR THE BANDSHELL SHOWS!!!
that would be heaven. but now that i said it on brooklynvegan and god forbid other ppl start saying it too, then it won't happen, they like do the exact opposite of what the masses are murmuring on sites

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 9:27 AM

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2009 12:51 PM

Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 11:49 PM

and i'm like oh my god soooooo much europe!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2009 1:48 PM
