Bill Callahan

Bill Callahan gave a free in-store performance at Other Music in NYC on Saturday (4/18). The show was the last stop on a week-long record store tour that Bill set out on in support of his new album, out now, on Drag City Records. The show also conincided with Record Store Day, for which Other Music had a full day's schedule of entertainment planned (and a lot of limited Record Store Day records to sell).

In June, Bill will set out on a proper headlining tour. That includes the two previously-announced NYC shows at LPR and MHOW. All dates, and more pictures from Other Music, below...

excellent show. the dude who kept yelling shit out and trying to talk to bill deserves a lifetime supply of cockpunches. here's some advice your mom never gave you: sweetheart, it's not all about you.

Nerdlingers!

So good. His voice was great. I didn't so much mind the chatter with the audience.
"how you doing?" dude in audience says
"good," bill says "how you"
"good," dude says.
"glad we caught up," bill says.
classic. bill is an artist, no questions.
more record store shows!

went back to the hi-res...

set list reads:
Jim Cain
All Thoughts
Rococo
Faith/Void
Breeze
Wind
Let's
Bathys?

He added a couple songs at the end as well.

the crowd was quiet, appreciative, mellow.

one guy did make some comment about gallons of piss (a reference to the PBR tallboys consumed most likely), came off a bit awkward.

the earlier 'how you doing' conversation was friendly and amusing.

was it the same guy? not sure.

I get tired of the name calling on this site, how's about we only rip into people if we were actually there at the show and know for a fact if someone was an asshole or not.

i definitely picked the wrong time to move to western australia, too. i used to work a block away from Other, and walked by every day. would have loved to catch this, even tho the collective minds of brooklynvegan would have blindly regarded me as a "hipster" or "douche" or whatever people say these days.
