Black Pus

"new yark again! hung with max from nashy, jamin turned 21, cy got to see avenu A (where the cro-mags are from) got some records and treats, 2nite we are playing with BLACK PUS, brian chippendale of lightning bolt's solo project, cooooool!" [Jeff the Brotherhood's blog]
JEFF the Brotherhood played one of their many NYC-area shows this week at Death By Audio last night (4/22). They shared a bill with Black Pus (pictured above, and as they pointed out above), Necking and Tussle (but not Sisters who they played some other shows with). More pictures from the show below...

i vote that death by audio is the worst venue in any borough bar none. i'd rather go to T5.

Leia is better at photos than everybody.

Death By Audio is a filthy dump with a terrible sound system.

Posted by music pr dude | April 23, 2009 8:33 PM

I'd have gone if it wasn't at that place

i want chippy to wrap his arms around me and fly me to a neon cloud made of spiders.

Black Pus was the most insane one-man show I have ever seen. Dude looked like some possessed alien Taz. The whole line-up was great and the venue is very REAL, very cozy, and good vibes all around.

whaaaatever, death by audio is great. filthy and ugly is the perfect environment for a band like black pus. others should stick to UB40 at nokia theater or something (actually....)

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2009 10:30 PM

tussle is so fucking BORING

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2009 11:17 PM

except, terminal 5 and death by audio are NOTHING alike.

DBA is what is,
honest and great

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2009 11:35 PM

DBA 4 life

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2009 11:43 PM

The show was a holy grail for rock. if all you can comment about is the fucking venue then go to the movies. JEFF The Brotherhood and Black Pus could play in a subway station and still blow your mind. WTF dude? Go to the theater and see a musical.

death by audio is like those old school punk/rock clubs used to be like in the 70s, not that i remember those times, but from what i read and saw on television. id much rather go there than any Bowery venue.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 1:43 AM

really, you're talking smack about a place where you can have a real, direct interaction with people that are making music? where they're rocking the fuck out, where they're not doing shit for money or because some tour manager thinks it would be good for them to play there (maybe), and where the crowd is actually full of people that genuinely like the music the bands are playing?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 2:36 AM

Whay!!!
This music is ment for shit holes.
Distortion was discoverded on a broken amp.
If you don't like shit holes than leave N.Y. Dick.

maybe there was once a time when a place like Death By Audio was something to be treasured and celebrated.

But the fact is that there are now several of these underground places, and Death By Audio is the worst one of the bunch.

Death By Audio is ugly and sounds shitty and most of the shows organized there feature just one good band and then four mediocre ones. The only thing is has going for it is its location.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 10:03 AM

"Go to the theater and see a musical."

Is that suppposed to be an insult?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 10:24 AM

wednesday april 29 at DBA:

Spectrum! with full band!

awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 12:01 PM

Death By Audio is crappy by any measure. Sound, appearance, comfort, booking, all not good.

Unfortunately decent bands do still play there sometimes. That's only because even though it's a bullshit place it's also right in the convenient neighborhood for lazy people, and it hasn't gotten shut down by police or the fire department (yet).

i still treasure and celebrate DBA. sound, appearance, comfort, booking, and all. if it is so far beneath your delicate sensibilities, just don't go. no need to be such snobs.

I love those two rooms, individually.

Posted by Jane | April 24, 2009 1:16 PM

it sucks

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 1:20 PM

UB40 is at Nokia theater? why wasn't this posted earlier? By far the best band on the Basic Instinct soundtrack.

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 1:38 PM

^ suck it

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 1:39 PM

I don't like going there. does anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2009 2:00 PM

if i hate someplace then everyone has to hate it or they're an idiot.

if i love someplace then everyone has to love it or they're an idiot.

dissenting opinions are not allowed.
