Coachella

The 2009 Coachella music festival kicks off today in Indio, California. You can check out the set times at their site. I'm personally drooling over Sunday (a bit of which you can see above).

Highlights of today (4/17) include Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney, Morrissey, Beirut, The Black Keys, Genghis Tron, Girl Talk, Patton & Rahzel, The Hold Steady, The Bug, and A Place to Bury Strangers.

You can watch some of the performances online (Macca & Moz included).

Etienne De Crecy plays Sunday, and in NYC tonight. Throbbing Gristle plays Sunday, and in NYC tonight.

Antony's Sunday performance will be a collaboration with "avant-garde composer and electronics wiz" Matthew Herbert. "The duo will present stark electronic re-imaginings of songs from Antony and the Johnsons' new album 'The Crying Light'" That one unfortunately will not be streaming.

Bummed I'm not there this year, had a GREAT time the last two years. I think today has the best lineup of the weekend.

today's schedule would be easy...Mojave stage for all but MBV.

From your cropping job BV, it looks like the "GOB" tent, which would be amazing...

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2009 1:41 PM

I would pay $90 to see a full day of GOB's magic show.

even though there is only one 'headliner' I would watch, overall this year has tons of greatness, so count me envious...

I might just be me, but it seems the webcast, while massively promoted, is totally not there on the website http://music.att.net

I d/l'd the plug in.. could it be a pop-up I'm missing?

Posted by joly | April 17, 2009 3:48 PM

the webcast starts in exactly 1 HOUR and 26 MINs from NOW.

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2009 4:23 PM

I see it.

First couple of bands didn't make it eh?

Posted by joly | April 17, 2009 7:47 PM

Sounds and looks great, but all those cuts are making me dizzy.

Posted by joly | April 17, 2009 7:50 PM

Live? It seems like they are sttreaming the same 20 mins over and over again.

Posted by joly | April 17, 2009 8:14 PM

Geez, did UK labels buy all the streaming time in the ATT webcast? Too many british bands that most americans care very little about!

And the Franz Ferdinand set went black on me like 15 minutes ago :/

Posted by dee | April 17, 2009 10:04 PM

webcast just came on me for the first time. franz on stage. tech difficulties it seems??
