Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week
Neil Young’s ode to his electric car, Fork in the Road hits store shelves today. I’m not enamored with this album, but it does whet my appetite for the 8-CD box set coming June 2nd, Neil Young Archives Volume I (1963 – 1972).
I am still in love with the new Micachu release, Jewellery, which sees its U.S. release today.
Other albums I have already heard and can recommend include Bat for Lashes’ Two Suns, Bob Mould’s Life and Times, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone’s Vs. Children, Doves’ Kingdom of Rust, The Hold Steady’s live album A Positive Rage, Richard Swift’s The Atlantic Ocean, Superchunk’s Leaves In The Gutter EP, The Thermals’ Now We Can See, and The Veils’ Sun Gangs.
The Score! 20 Years of Merge Records compilation features bands covering their favorite songs from the Merge Records catalog. The star studded list of contributors includes Ryan Adams, Okkervil River, the Mountain Goats, Bright Eyes, and many more talented artists.
The Beastie Boys’ remastered Check Your Head (complete with bonus disc) is out today. Two Siouxsie and the Banshees remastered albums, Hyaena and Tinderbox round out the week’s notable reissues.
