I bet those CAN lp's on the wall are like $200--they've probably been there for 2 years

Record Store Day is happening across the US on Saturday. More listings for in-store performances nationwide on their site www.recordstoreday.com or www.twitter.com/recordstoreday

our record store (fingerprints in long beach) is having instore performances by Matt Costa, The Bird and the Bee, and Crystal Antlers...

it's gonna be a good day.

No the can albums on the wall are like 40... they were pretty early, but not the earliest. Monster Movie is still there I believe, but Ege didn't last that long... week most. 40 something isn't bad for an edition that old... a little high but not too bad.

Holy shit I want the Space Ritual on vinyl back there.... Can't believe I missed that...

"our record store (fingerprints in long beach) is having instore performances by Matt Costa, The Bird and the Bee, and Crystal Antlers..."

Dear NY record stores,

Are you gonna put up with this? Are you gonna let the west coast show us up? Really?

Signed,

I don't care how good Bishop Allen is or might have been or may still be...that fucker's performance in that sorry excuse of a movie, Mutual Appreciation, is enough to make me hate this band. That movie stole 2 hours of my life away that I'll never get back.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 2:18 AM

so wait....thats bishop allen? the douche thats in all those indie flicks?

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 2:27 AM

I will def be supporting Record Store Day in NYC/BK and yes, Mutual Appreciation is a waste of time/film = the worst!!!!

Posted by BTW | April 14, 2009 9:42 AM

New York is one of the most expensive places in the US to buy music that I've experienced. I really find it hard to support stores with small selections and high prices. Records I could buy on the west coast for $3-5 are $13-15 here, if not more.

Looney Tunes out on Long Island has some pretty good events on Record Store day too. Kevin Devine is playing at 2. The lead singer of Anthrax is going to be working the register.

There are a ton of awesome records out for Record Store Day. I am going to go broke. If you buy the new WILCO DVD that day, you get a free video download of an entire concert.

Posted by Kurt C | April 14, 2009 10:42 AM

Will someone famous be seeding on bittorrent this day?

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 11:36 AM

What is that dude talking about records he can buy for cheap on the west coast? I order from west coast shops online all the time (aquarius records) and have been to a bunch of places on the west coast and some may be a little cheaper, but not that much cheaper... You are wrong dude.

Titus Andronicus are playing At Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 12:06 PM

Who from Grizzly Bear is DJING????

Posted by Richard Dawkins | April 14, 2009 1:23 PM

@Kurt C - all "video downloads" are free. LOL.

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 3:32 PM

I guess I'm talking about used records, not new stuff. I was in LA last month and dropped about $200 on used vinyl and CDs at Freakbeat, Atomic, Amoeba, Rockaway, etc. HUGE bargains.
