"is it me or has she gotten less hot?"

You mean Bjorn? yeah, I agree

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:29 PM

nice pics but how was the show? what time did they hit the stage?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:35 PM

I really don't get Chairlift. Its soooo meh.

Posted by Bitchspork | April 30, 2009 5:37 PM

They hit the stage at 10:33. Show started off slow & boring...frankly, I almost left. However, it ended fairly energeticly. The crowd was fairly awful though...50% NYU girls, 50% Staten Island spray-tan, frosted hair douchebags who talked through the whole show. I felt like I was at a New Kids On The Block show.

The last song ended up being a medley that included some Stone Roses and Joy Division, which was kind of cool...but I can also guarantee you that 99% of the people there didn't get the references.

new record sucks!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:42 PM

Wow..I don't fall in either of your 50% descriptions of the crowd. I guess I am that unique! Setlist anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:44 PM

new record is dope..It desn't Move me is the Jam of the month!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:46 PM

Chairlift is AWFUL. Was looking forward to reading some vicious reviews after work today, but instead found horror. Anthony Gonzalez had their record as his favorite in 2008?!?! Does this mean I have to burn my M83 albums? I mean, just awful.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 5:48 PM

took stage at 10:33, ended about ten minutes before midnight

Setlist:

just the past
starts to melt
it beats me every time
amsterdam
it don't move me
lay it down
living thing
young folks
let's call it off
objects of my affection

(encore)
stay this way
nothing to worry about
up against the wall

The Awol One and Sole show down in the Studio @ Webster was waaay cooler

5:44 - what do you need a set list for if you were there?

Posted by dubious | April 30, 2009 5:53 PM

@ 5:44

Okay, fine. The crowd was 49% NYU girls and 49% Staten Island douchebags...and 2% cooler-than-thou hipsters. Happy that I included you now?

In the year 2019, PB&J will be featured on a VH1 special about one hit wonders for their "whistling song."

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 6:11 PM

I'd hit it.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 6:12 PM

5:53..a setlist is asked for as I am still listening to the new album and digesting it. I may have only heard it3 times through and am not sure all the songs that were played..is that good enough for you?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 6:33 PM

5:56 you aren't good at your stereotypes...
5:49 thanks for the setlist...

battle of the one hit wonders of toothless pap

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2009 10:09 PM

does the chairlift ipod commercial really count as a "hit"? Do we have to be so generous?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 12:19 AM

7:30 - um, I thought I was. Who else did you assume I was speaking for? You're not so hot on logic, are you?

Posted by 5:40 | May 1, 2009 12:40 AM

5:44/6:35 - Seems like I struck a nerve.

So how much spray-tan did you use before coming to the show? Inquiring minds want to know.

Posted by 5:56 | May 1, 2009 1:08 AM

You idiots forgot the Bridge and Tunnel types...thats what I was getting at!

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 7:05 AM

I thought Staten Island spray-tan frosted-hair types were part of the Bridge & Tunnel crowd. Are they not?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 8:43 AM

Does anyone know which Joy Division song they covered?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 8:59 AM

The medley was:

Up Against The Wall / I Wanna Be Adored / Transmission / Up Against The Wall (reprise)

I went last night with my fiance ...we're in our mid 30's, live in BK and not staten island, she's a casual listener. I really liked the last two records but not so much the new one.

I'm pretty sure we fit into the "invisible" category instead of DB or hipster. Although I'm sure some of you will disagree (high-five)

I actually tried to sell my tix before we entered (old, tired ...and thought the show would be a disappointment).

PB&J is just a good band IMO. I really don't like their new record much ...but a good band can put on a good show regardless....which is what I thought they did.

Chairlift - I'm just not into the 80's pop revival sound... it just sounded like music I hated the first time around. If you took away the crowd, snark...etc and put that music in some dentist's office ...nobody would mind.

Some people liked it so .. I guess they did pretty well.

OK. Lemmie have it.

The initial demographic breakdown was for the Webster Hall show. I'm sure the MHoW show was probably a slightly different demographic.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 9:39 AM

great sets last night from both Chairlift and PB&J. I lot of people (like the guy above) simply don't dig the 80s synth-pop sound, which is cool. Personally, I really dig it. Their songs are definitely slow, but the songs are really cool if you lose yourself in it. It's not for everyone.

I saw Peter Bjorn and John a couple of years ago at the Merc. Really enjoyed it back then. Haven't been all that into the new album... so I wasn't that psyched about this show. But these guys really know how to perform. Peter is little force of energy up there. They were all working hard to get the crowd involved. Class acts. Just a great show.

Maybe I'll listen to the new album again. The new songs didn't sound too bad live.

PB&J setlist pic added to the set

Posted by brooklynvegan | May 1, 2009 9:56 AM

Thanks 9:13, right, Transmission. I might have been the only one singing along to that one. That was pretty sweet.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2009 10:21 AM

These guys are total DORKS!!! Their stage moves were providing unintentional comedy the whole night FotC style. Me and my girl had a good time altho she stormed out during their terrible Joy Division cover that was borderline insulting with the Ian Curtis impression Peter was doing. I thought they were offbeat alot and just generally going thru the motions. I don't think the new album is as terrible as people are making it out to be - It Don't Move Me sounded great. I was a little salty they didn't play The Chills tho. I bet that sounds great live on a big system...

Posted by BTW | May 1, 2009 11:31 AM

all i know is, it don't move me is a great song =D!
