Last time we checked, Ted Leo was going on tour with Titus Andronicus, but there weren't any NY or NJ shows. Now, tickets are on sale for a June 21st show at Kearny Irish American Association. Yep.

This is pretty exciting. I'm glad to see some shows going on in Kearny. I used to live there and didn't know they had much going on music wise.

Add a NYC show? Are you serious? The dude never plays Jersey - he is always in NJ! This show is going to be sick!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 9:55 PM

I think whatever you meant is wrong. They both play both NJ and NYC pretty frequently.

i doubt he's gonna add an nyc show. this is obviously a 'secondary' market tour. it's awesome how he's hitting up these often passed over cities.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:39 PM

pittsburgh, baltimore, athens, san houston, buffalo. yep, often passed over and 'secondary'

How's the weather in San Houston this time of year?

Has anyone ever been to this venue in Kearny? Sounds like an old school gig I used to hit up at VFW and firehalls. It's going to be a sick show!

Kinnelon VFW FTW!

Kearny is a blue collar working town in a more heavly industrilzed northeast section of NJ. its home to several oil refineries, most notabley Hess Oil...they own the Jets...if u saw the movie the Wrestler, that pretty much maybe a little to authentic for the average sanctimonious/skinny jeaned hipster. I'd say its woth it just to watch the local Kearny 12hr working men rip on hipsters. Please be sure to go to a local bar near the Hall to ensure the proper beating you all sooooooo need.

10:02-not even from Jerz. Prolly just looked up Kearny on Hipsterpedia.

Id say if you're looking for a "proper beating" an Irish-American Hall might be a good place to find it...

how big is the venue? how does it compare to maxwells or nyc venues?

Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2009 10:49 AM

The only beatings going on in the Kearny Irish (as it's known locally, are the one's Celtic give Rangers on the television on Saturday mornings. It's just a old Irish social club with cheap booze and footy on the TV.

I used to live in Kearny, its not a venue, its basically just a bar with a small area for local Irish events.

Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2009 11:10 AM

Definitely going to be a fun show. JERSEY!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 9, 2009 11:30 AM

footy on the tv. lol. i'd rather a nyc show though. so if they can make that happen. actually i don't want to see ted again. for not knowing any of his songs i've seen him too many times. TA should just add a nyc/bk show.

Show is literally around the corner from my apartment. Awesome bar to go to also the Scots-Club around the corner for cheap booze before and after is a cool place. Awesome food across the street at the peruvian place, down the block at the best fish and chip place (the Thistle) and Portuguese food and sangria at O'Imperial down the street. Get drunk and Rowdy, Kearny is a definite drinking town. also the irish has the best pint of Guinness this side of the atlantic at 3 or 350 a pint

Anyone know how long Ted Leo played tonight (what time he went on/off)? I'm trying to figure out train schedules for Maxwell's tomorrow.

I have never seen his brothers band. I will have to see if he still is playing and has any shows coming up. I have seen ted and enjoyed the show.
