Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:05 AM

I wonder where they'll play in nyc on the real tour.

Posted by wembley | April 8, 2009 10:05 AM

was in at 10AM and got nothing. totally annoying thing was that my word verification was "Keynes's parenthesis" and I think that messed me up. Let's blame ticketmaster!

Posted by april | April 8, 2009 10:06 AM

Got 2!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:07 AM

i got a pair and then had to update credit card info and ticketmaster wouldn't accept my changes. so i fucking lost them. fuck ticketmaster i htae them so fucking much right now.

Posted by MEL ONE. | April 8, 2009 10:07 AM

think they'll put out more?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:07 AM

3 pair.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:07 AM

got 2. this will be great.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:08 AM

So it is normal for something to go on sale a half hour before the announced tie?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:08 AM

Logged on at 10, no tickets. It couldn't have sold out before 10 because tickets weren't available. What the fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:09 AM

Bowery holds about 450 people. I assume that half of those tickets were reserved for media and friends of the band leaving about 250 for the gen public. Good job to all of you who were able to get tickets

Posted by Ashok | April 8, 2009 10:09 AM

Fuck you Ticketmaster, anyone know if theyll be avail at Mercury?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:10 AM

Just picked up a pair @ 10:07.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:10 AM

"So it is normal for something to go on sale a half hour before the announced tie?"

It didn't

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:16 AM

Don't you worry....they will add late show or 2nd show a day after.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:16 AM

BULLSHIT
absolute BULLSHIT

Posted by sc | April 8, 2009 10:16 AM

I want this show damit, i was on at 10 am exact and it sold out before it was 10:01

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:18 AM

>>Don't you worry....they will add late show or 2nd show a day after.<<

No they won't.

Posted by Rajah of Rehab | April 8, 2009 10:20 AM

Anon 10:10 is lying and just trying to stir up trouble. There are no more tickets available. Tickets did not go on sale earlier than 10. They sold out in about 30 seconds as expected. I got 2 right at 10 on the button. Don't hate on ticketmaster. This is how the system works. It is a huge show in terms of demand and everyone was trying.

Gonna be a sick show. Sorry for those who did not get tickets. I am heading off to Craigslist now to sell my one extra for a obscene amount.

Thank you Jacky White

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:20 AM

i am amused that people are actually shocked that they got shut out. shouldn't you all be used to this game by now?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:22 AM

Already sold out! Wtf is this. I didn't think they would be gone THAT fast. To all you lucky SOBs that got tickets, have fun!

Posted by Dog Chic | April 8, 2009 10:22 AM

Tickets were on sale at 10 and not before. I think it was really a matter of luck... my friend and I both tried refreshing in sync beginning at 9:59 at exactly the same time, and one of us ended up getting a pair and other didn't. Sorry if you didn't get tickets.

And agreed about not hating on ticketmaster, they put their tickets on sale on time--- thousands of people are trying to get tickets, only a few hundred are available.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:25 AM

you can still get them, I just got one

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:25 AM

I got 2 tickets @ 10:04. I don't even care about this show, but I know that I'll be able to get some slutty, tattooed chick from NYU to go with me. So thanks, Jack White, for helping me get laid.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:25 AM

Anon: 10:20 everyone knows that Ticketmaster's "system" is greatly flawed and you wouldn't be so smug had you gotten screwed. Also you're an asshole for running to Craigslist. Jerk.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:26 AM

tix went on sale right at 10.I use http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=179 to check time, and then start refreshing the ticketmaster link a few seconds before 10. Even though tickets were unavailable almost immediately afterward, it's possible that several more were released a few minutes later, as people had transactions time out (like MEL ONE at 10:07, unfortunately) That's my $.02

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:26 AM

sometimes if you're lucky you can get tickets to stuff like this searching 10 or 15 minutes after the on-sale time. released tickets get thrown back into the ticket pool, etc.

Posted by wembley | April 8, 2009 10:28 AM

god damnit.

my only consolation is that this show won't be anything near a stripes or raconteurs concert because i'm really only going for jacky, and a little bit for mosshart since she was really cool when she song on the bottom end of the rac's tour.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:28 AM

been trying consistently for the past 30 minutes and nada...

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:30 AM

I got 2 right at 10.

Hope Rob Jones designs a sick poster they sell at the show (like he does for the stripes and raconteurs shows).

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:31 AM

been trying too. Got on at exactly ten. Nothing since the begining. It would be nice if the site said it was sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:32 AM

Ah, nothing like the BV comments section after a hotly-anticipated show at a tiny venue goes on sale. I haven't had this much fun since Cobra Legs.

Posted by p.Vice | April 8, 2009 10:32 AM

dead MEHther?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:33 AM

whatever... they will be back either at the mercury or terminal 5 or the music hall or some place and they will be better.. i saw the raconteurs at terminal 5 and then i saw them bonaroo and lollapalooza, and they were better at the latter two, even though the outside environment wasn't as cool

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:35 AM

This show will be 90% guest listed and 10% douchey BV commenters.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:36 AM

craiglist will only work if you show up with the person you sell to and hand them the ticket if you knew how to read you would have seen "Must bring photo ID and CC tix were bought with to venue / no tix transfers
16 and over with ID"

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:36 AM

thats easy to get around tho, they did the same thing for Franz @ Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 10:39 AM

Got 2 right at 10am. I'm so excited to be going to this. Jack White at the BB?! It doesn't get much better than that! F Terminal 5. That place BLOWS.

Posted by K-Rock | April 8, 2009 10:46 AM

ticket MEHster

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:00 AM

"This show will be 90% guest listed and 10% douchey BV commenters."

True story.

"...I'm so excited to be going to this. Jack White at the BB?! It doesn't get much better than that!..."

Jack White at the BB...playing drums. Sorry, but it does get better than that. The WHITE STRIPES at Irving Plaza, for example.

I'm sorry for all you people who think this is going to be better than sliced bread, but in actuality, I imagine it's going to be a complete shit show with VIP socialista and industry douches everywhere...and David Fricke. Enjoy!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:04 AM

Hey 10:26,
!0:20 here. Listen you stupid piece of shit, tell me how ticketmaster's system is flawed? Because you did not get through today? I will gladly admit that scalpers get tickets beforehand but that is also from band management as well as the promoters. And usually that does not take place for the small shows. Especially not this one where the person buying the ticket has to show id and CC and only will call. The only people selling tickets for huge markups(like myself) can only sell their extra and are not professional scalpers. Go read the new Rolling Stone for a great article on this dilemma.

And call me what you want. I don't care. The money i am going to get for my extra will pay for both tickets and then some. Supply and Demand motherfucker. I have gotten shut out of shows before and I don't hate on the people who sell them on EBay, Stub Hub, Craigslist etc. That is the way it goes.

Oh and 10:35, you are an idiot as well. When they come back on their real tour they are not going to play Mercury or Music Hall. They will be playing a bigger place like yes T5 or Webster or bigger. And you are crazy to say the Racs were better at Bonnnaroo or Lolla over T5. Idiot. I saw Racs play their first show at Irving and T5 and Lolla with Irving being the best then T5 and then Lolla. The bigger the place the worse it got. The first show at Irving was an insane, sweat dripping off the walls, balls out show.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:04 AM

Such angry hipsters.. quick .. someone throw a skinny tie and some indian takeout on the floor

Posted by 11:17 | April 8, 2009 11:18 AM

LOL at Anon: 11:04,

it's true though.. it will be industry suits who are not wearing suits, hair gel, and bad news. i agree also, this is going to be cool.. and i'd really like to see jack on the drums.. but i'd pay four times as much money to see him pick up his Airline guitar,

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:20 AM

11:04 smells like industry douche.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:23 AM

Actually the best Racs performance was at Roseland. Irving was more exciting because they were new and unknown but they had some kinks to work out. T5 was awful from the other perspective - total excess, overblown and boring. Like that second record.

That same thrill of the unknown makes this new gig interesting but his drumming, while fine, is nothing like his guitar and also - frankly - this new act just smacks of too much deliberate cool. The White Stripes and the Raconteurs are not deliberately cool. It just sort of happened by accident. The Dead Weather is in your face "look at us, ain't we cool". Meh.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:23 AM

i'm betting most of the people talking about how much this show will suck are just bitter cause ticketmaster shut them out. dont worry 11:04, i'll sell you my 2...for 5x face value, lol.

Posted by paul blunts | April 8, 2009 11:24 AM

at angry 11:04,

i was just trying to convince myself not to be so pissed off about missing these tix actually, i knew smaller venues are much better for almost all bands, but T5, as someone did say above has become a pretty fucked up place.. and fuck me if jack white will bring the dead weather to MSG or T5 before he takes it to Irving or Mercury, in the past with the stripes he's done numerous secret shows at the Irving and places, I'm sure he'll revisit.. also the version of blue veins from bonnaroo killed T5's i dunno bout irving though,

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:25 AM

@11:04 .. sadly, I would pay 5x face value. SO upset about this..

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:36 AM

@ apologetic 11:25, no reason to explain yourself to 11:04, he's a douche.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:39 AM

i'd pay 5x also, i already put up an ad for two tix needed on craiglist,

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:39 AM

As somebody rightly said yesterday, there was going to be a lot of bitching about a band nobody has heard of before, except for two lousy tracks posted on their website.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:48 AM

I think that you could bribe the door guy for a lot less than 5x Face Value to get in. Or you could just give their booking agent's name at the door..

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:50 AM

blow the black doorman and you will get in

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:54 AM

I legitimately got my single ticket at 10:04. I tried to get doubles about 5 times or so, then switched the order over to a single ticket and got one. I guess someone was holding one and didn't finalize the deal.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:57 AM

"Raconteurs are not deliberately cool."

Are you fucking kidding me? that band was a record company invention cynical money grab. Same as this band. You guys (who are saying you will pay 5X) are getting suckered once again. I saw Raconteurs at Lolla and found them fucking awful. Spending 25 bucks on this was a stretch, and I for one am glad now I didnt get tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:02 PM

haha at blowing the black doorman

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:10 PM

shut out at 10am. anyone scalping there. i wanna go!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:11 PM

if the doorman was cuter i'd do him lol but not for this shit band

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:23 PM

Amazing how bitter the people who did not get tickets to this are. Yeaaahhhh right The raconteurs and this band are total industry assembled vehicles. I mean Jack White, the guy who just built a vinyl only record store, totally smacks of industry money grabbing and not a genuine artist seeking out different avenues for his art.

Cmon now you dunderheads, you may not like his/their music and i can respect that. But to call him/they industry shills and whatnot is just plain stupid.

Oh and to add something to some of the above comments. I saw The Raconteurs shows at Irving, Roseland and Terminal 5. No way was Roseland better then Irving. And T5 as shitty a venue as it is was better than Roseland. The band managed to rise above the awfulness of that trash venue. And the second album is a great fucking rock record.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:26 PM

no seriously i wanna buy your tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:33 PM

wasn't the first raconteurs show at roseland, not irving?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:37 PM

I saw The White Stripes at Bowery, so fuck you all...and I have a ticket to this gig too

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:41 PM

Look at all the lemmings

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:46 PM

Raconteurs played Irving in April of '06, the Roseland shows were in September of that year.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 12:54 PM

i'm just playing drums. big deal.

Posted by jack white | April 8, 2009 12:54 PM

^hahah awesome.

but serisouly i wanna go.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:02 PM

I'M SURE EVERYONE WILL AGREE WITH ME THAT THE DEAD WEATHER TICKET SALE ON TICKETMASTER WAS A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM! THERE IS NO WAY ANY TICKETS WERE AVAILABLE FOR SALE ON THAT SITE. IT'S A BUNCH OF BS. I WAS ON THE TICKET SITE IMMEDIATEY, AND WHEN I SAY IMMEDIATELY I MEAN IT. MUST HAVE BEEN 10 SECONDS AND THE TICKETS SAID SOLD OUT. WE SHOULD ALL PROTEST SOMEHOW OR SOMEWAY. HOW ABOUT IN FRONT OF THE BOWERY BALLROOM! BUNCH OF BS. THAT WHOLE TICKET INDUSTRY IS A BUNCH OF BS! DEAD WEATHER SHOULD BE TO BLAME SOMEWHAT. BOOOOOOOOOO"

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:07 PM

thanks for clearing up the roseland/irving confusion...

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:09 PM

i also went on at 10am and refreshed my page about 20 times until tickets were posted and i got 2 tickets no problem... i think it was really all luck- stop always trying to blame someone. sometimes shit just doesn't work out

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:12 PM

^ haha at the ad.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:16 PM

wow

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:27 PM

At this point all you can really do is laugh.
I called a friend who lives near a ticketmaster outlet
and the tickets were sold out. Im still trying to get a ticket from the master. and it went from frustrating to funny and back. I will still try until the day comes. Why so obsessed? Why must this be the way it works. It makes the mystery all the more alluring. It may be a good show, I guess ill never know. This has happend before. Jack is the only one who does these things to us. Makes him a legend of sorts. Well, till next 10am

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 1:36 PM

the music sucks anyway

funny how people pay money to go to a show just to "see" someone.

fuckers.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 2:00 PM

umm...no, i got a tic well after 10.

by well after, i mean like 1008

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 2:08 PM

I had 3 computers up and refreshing...so I was super lucky and got 6 tickets right at 10 o'clock.

My friends and I are in for a party next Tuesday night! I might have 2 extra tickets though...if some jackass that was too slow to get them their self wants to buy any?

Posted by Tyler | April 8, 2009 2:13 PM

"Cmon now you dunderheads, you may not like his/their music and i can respect that. But to call him/they industry shills and whatnot is just plain stupid."

Did you see the promo campaign for the Recantours? Those adds were all over mainstream glossies, and right away he had festival gigs lined up? How many other bands you see getting that type of hype? You think the record company was doing it out of their own good will? They wanted to make money on it, it was a money grab thats it. Where are they now? If they were a real band they would have still been making albums and touring. I didnt get suckered first time around and I won't this time.

And I am happy I didn't get tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 2:18 PM

will the Buff Medways be opening?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 2:23 PM

i wanna buy, seriously

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 2:28 PM

I'm def. interested in buying a ticket and meeting up with someone the day of the show if at face value. The only thing extra out of me is a drink =).

Posted by Steph | April 8, 2009 3:09 PM

@Anon2:18pm - Helpful hint...ALL record companies want to make money. They are businesses and that is what businesses do. White Stripes have sold millions of records around the world, so OF COURSE any project he's involved in will be hyped and have instant Festival bookings. Making sure you time those concert appearances with promos and magazine ads is simply called a marketing strategy.

Posted by blackhat | April 8, 2009 3:15 PM

*high five* to all those who got tickets.
That would include MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 5:35 PM

Why the hell didn't my earlier comment show up?

Posted by sal paradisel | April 8, 2009 7:33 PM

Woah dude at 12:02 and 2:18, you're an idiot. Jack had been friends with the members of the Raconteurs 8 years before the Racs formed. He produced their albums and collaborated with them long before the White Stripes were even heard of. If the Raconteurs were created by a record company, then they would choose some guys that people actually knew and cared about to be in the band with Jack instead of his unknown best buddies. That band was formed by themselves because they enjoyed working together and respected each other's music. The reason they got so much publicity is because Jack White was already well-known and a critic's darling and Jack has one of the best managers in the biz, Ian Montone. Nothing about the Raconteurs was a record company invention. Also, you obviously were unaware of the album and tour the Raconteurs had last year. Two albums and two extensive tours. I would call that, "still making albums and touring". So I would suggest keeping your mouth shut so you don't look like a fool.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 8:07 PM

All right I submitted a comment 7 hours ago. Why hasn't it shown up?

Posted by sal paradise | April 8, 2009 11:25 PM

ticketmaster was a total scam. luckily, i was in on it so i got tickets. i feel bad for those of you who weren't as devious.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:33 PM

Just got two tickets! Cool beans!

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2009 11:36 PM

I WILL BUY YOUR 2 TICKETS!!! and pay extra. I want to go so bad.

Crystal Stilts added as opener

Posted by texastab | April 13, 2009 4:57 PM

Crystal Shits suck balls.

Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 5:17 PM

"Crystal Shits" ? that would almost be clever if their name were Crystal SLITS, but its STILTS.
either way, lame copycat band

Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 5:31 PM

How about Chris Tulls Tilts? As in, there's a guy named Chris Tulls...and he always tilts when he plays pinball? Clever yet?

On second thought...Crystal Shits is better.

easily the douchiest crowd i've had the misfortune of seeing a show with in a long time

Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2009 11:03 PM

"easily the douchiest crowd i've had the misfortune of seeing a show with in a long time"

Definitely disagree... where I was, people seemed surprisingly friendly/personable/genuinely excited to be there.

The show was great; Alison Mosshart is quite the engaging lead singer. She smoked numerous cigarettes on stage and played an awesome Bo Diddley-esque box guitar. Jack White had about 4 tom toms and an awesome drum set, and even though he was set back a ways, was pretty much the centerpiece of the stage. Played the drums with as much gusto as he does on the guitar. Unlike the Raconteurs, the balance of energy/power from all of the players seemed a lot more harmonious here; they all seemed to be on a level playing field (except when JW did one song on lead guitar and vocals and Jack Lawrence manned the drum set), and having a good time.

Really intense bluesy sound... a lot more thrashing and swaggering than either of JW's other groups. Most of the songs were even more garage rock-esque than "Hang You Up from The Heavens."

The Roadies in Suits and Bowler Hats were really tight about placing the set lists far away from audiences' grasp, and made sure to make eye contact with no one reaching their hands out for one at the end of the show. Hang You Up from the Heavens and one other song were in the encore, but besides that obviously nothing else was identifiable. While a lot of the songs weren't necessarily mind-blowing at this performance, they were surely engaging-- Allison Mosshart was a great leader up front... she was having some intense staredowns with people in the front. I'm pretty confident the music will translate well on recording too. There was one great song that Jack sang from behind the kit that had the word "buffalo" in it that rocked, and a handful of great tunes that Allison sang and thrashed around to that were awesome too.

All in all, great show. Sorry to those who couldn't make it. I hope there will be a more official summary/review on BV (and elsewhere) soon, I just wanted to put in a spectator's two cents.

Posted by Ben | April 15, 2009 12:34 AM

Sorry I didn't realize the album tracklist was already out. In regards to my earlier post, the songs that were immediate standouts were "I Cut Like a Buffalo," (JW on lead vocals) "So Far From Your Weapon," "New Pony," "Three Birds," and "Will There Be Enough Water?" (JW on lead vocals and lead guitar). All other instrumentation was Dean Fertita on guitar/organs/keyboards/the occasional Moog flourish, Lil' Jack on bass, and Allison Mosshart singing/screaming/wailing.

Good stuff.

Posted by Ben | April 15, 2009 12:43 AM

Apparently my "earlier post" did not get posted yet... It was a long-winded response to the show that I don't know if I want to recreate. I received a message saying my post had to be approve by BV moderators/owners? (Didn't know this policy existed on BV.)

The show was pretty great.

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2009 12:59 AM

Show was just ok. Nthing great at all. Douchy crowd.

Posted by jables | April 15, 2009 1:45 AM

who was the biggest douche in the crowd?

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2009 7:46 AM

"who was the biggest douche in the crowd?"

the roadies / stage managers
