"I'm having a really hard putting this show into words. I mean, how do you begin to write about being invited on stage to play a song with The Wrens at their sold out show on a Friday night in NYC? Seriously, what words can communicate that? That quote is from Nick from 100 Bands in 100 Days who, after contacting the band before the show, was invited to join the Wrens on stage at the Bell House on Friday (4/10). That's him (the non-Wren) jumping in the picture above. Video of the same, and more pictures from the show (birthday party, cake and opener Amazing Baby included), below...The words "thank you" come to mind first. Thank you to The Wrens. Thank you to Naomi for passing along my email to the band. Thank you to Kevin for getting in touch with me and offering to give me 5th Wren status for a night. Thank you to the rest of the band for letting me step on your stage. Thank you to the crowd at the Bell House for being so awesome." [100 Bands in 100 Days]

I never actually met anyone who likes Amazing Baby. I'd rather listen to Creed...

I went to see the Wrens. They were fantastic!
No one seemed to like Amazing baby. They are too shoegazey and boring. But the Wrens rock!!!

I can't believe how amazing this show was. My mind was blown.

Amazing Baby have the best drummer. Can't speak for their music but the drummer used to be in Heavy Hands and he's awesome.

The Wrens continue to put on a better show than bands half their age, and Friday night was no exception.
Amazing Baby should stick to digging through thrift store clothing bins and drop their hollow musical attempt at luring in those sweet sweet Williamsburg girls.

This is Nick, the guy in the picture above who was on stage w/the Wrens. Thanks for the shout out. The show was amazing. Definitely the best moment of the 100 bands project so far. Keep following the blog!

I'm pretty sure I see at least 100 bands every 100 days. Even if you go to three shows a week, with three bands at each show, then you've got it covered, right?

YO SIMS!

the wrens are a great pop band, but that bassist tries just a leeeetle too hard. dial it back a notch, fella.

such a good fucking show. my first wrens show. but somehow felt like i had been seeing them for years when i left. also had no clue that they all sang - anyhow anyone know about a new album? when it might come out?
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 12:56 AM
wrens setlist?
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 5:30 AM
Greg- this dude's trip is he's going to a show for 100 consecutive days, which is pretty fucking crazy/impressive, I dont know the right word.
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 9:15 AM
yeah... he's actually being modest saying 100 bands in 100 days. it's really more than that. 100 shows in 100 days.
he cheats a LITTLE by seeing an in-store thing (like at barnes and noble) every now and then. but this dude is a madman. really cool thing.
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 9:34 AM
I would count an in-store as a show.

Seeing 3 bands in one night a few times a week is nothing like seeing a band EVERY NIGHT. I see a lot of shows too, probably a couple hundred every year, but having to commit to a show every single night for 100 nights, is pretty ambitious and bad ass in my opinion. Not to mention posting pictures and writing about each experience every night...as a hobby...that's dedication!!!
With regards to the seeing a band at Barnes and Noble, definitely not cheating in my book. I think it is cool that he is rounding out his experience by seeing very diverse shows in diverse venues.
Keep on rockin' Nick!

looks like Amazing Baby told their friends about this page

could there be a worse combination? The Wrens, who are phenominal! and Amazing Baby are retarded. But they have good management, so they won't go away jsut because everyone thinks they suck.
I predict AB falls off the map within a year. Even their manager must know they suck by now!
Posted by Rogen | April 13, 2009 11:47 AM
The marketing strategy is riding the coattails of MGMT. It's not working too well.
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 11:54 AM
Can someone explain to me how Amazing Baby continues to open for good bands? Who are they fucking to keep booking gigs?
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 12:11 PM
Why doesn't that kid just get a job as a sound guy?
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 12:19 PM
LOL!
12:11 is an honest reader.
(People should really stop associating AB with MGMT. MGMT isn't that bad. Amazing Baby are just hack musicians with a well-connected manager)
Posted by Simon | April 13, 2009 12:22 PM
I have never heard of, or heard Amazing babys music. So I will not partake in the popular opinion of this band. But they do look cheesey. so bad. Creed had more style!

What a treat. Somehow I missed out on knowing the Wrens, and I listened to "Meadowlands" halfheartedly. Come showtime I was just knocked out. I got the impression that the Wrens studio work doesn't reveal their strength on stage, and vice versa for Amazing Baby. I had never heard of Amazing Baby. They're good technicians, the guitar lines are tight, the drummer powerful and the gear expensive. They very much need a frontman (or woman) with stage presence who sings well. Maybe with that will come better songs.
Not mentioned here is the first first band, Overlord. Sounds like a metal band, but they are a nice pop band. I liked 'em. That guy can actually sing.

bassist from the wrens rules. up yours, commenter 10:47 04/12.
Posted by Anonymous | April 13, 2009 3:09 PM
Amazing Baby totally needs a new front man! The bassist and drummer are decent, but the singer is a hack. ANd that is why they'll never get out of Creed's shadow.

I love how a band can suck SO bad, it brings out the funniest comments! so funny!~
