Moment of Surrender tells the tale of a lost soul, borrowing an Alcoholics Anonymous term for the moment an addict admits helplessness. "The character in the song is a junkie, so that's where I got it," says Bono, who has written about heroin addiction before, most famously on Bad, from The Unforgettable Fire."I've been surrounded a lot in my personal life by addiction -- in the last few years, in particular," Bono says. "I know a lot of people -- not least the bass player in the band -- who have had to deal with their demons in courageous ways." In the Nineties -- around the time he was engaged to Naomi Campbell -- Clayton grappled with alcoholism, and went to AA himself. "And maybe there's a part of me that thinks, 'Wow, I'm just an inch away,''' Bono continues. "There's no doubt about the fact that I have a wild streak and I'd be very capable of setting fire to myself. So, you know, I don't go to church for the view." [Independent.IE]
Tickets are on sale (@ 10am) for the recently added September 25th U2 show at Giants Stadium. Muse is opening. The September 24th show at the same venue is sold out. All tour dates HERE.
In related news, Bono and The Edge made a Spiderman musical, and Pitchfork.TV interviewed U2 on video. You can watch it below...

Ticketmaster is F*cking crap now.
I don't know how anybody gets tix online anymore. It's fucking shit. Maybe I am jaded..but their system doesn't let fans get tix. You have to be HAL 9000 to buy concert tix.
WTF!

Are Muse playing a solo show? I'd rather go see them alone than sit through a U2 show

Ticketmaster s*cks. It is impossible to get tickets anymore. Why make someone watch a refresh screen as the time changes from 5 minutes, to 10 minutes, to 1 minute, to 15 minutes, only to tell them 20 minutes later that there are no tickets available? If that's the best TM can do, why not just let people stand in line for tickets like in the old days.
And why have fan club presales, and venue club presales, and whatever other kinds of presales there are? Why not just sell the stupid tickets all at the same time?
And U2 -- I've been a fan for decades, but I think this is about it. You're richer than G*d. The fact that you're charging more than $50 for any ticket is criminal.

WOW! That was a bunch of bullsit! An instant 15 minute wait and nothing! This whole system sucks! Add another show already, oh wait, this is already their second and final show, right?! Eat shit!

Hence why you shouldn't be buying tickets for U2....go see Radiohead. They charge less and you will surely enjoy their show more.
Thank you.

I have to ask why you people complaining about not getting tickets to this show are even reading this blog. It is not as if you give a shit about music. Why the fuck would you want to be at Giants Stadium seeing a show???? Ridiculous idiots i am actually glad you got shut out of tickets.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 10:47 AM
hey anon 10:41. i paid less for my u2 ticket in 2009 than i have for a radiohead ticket since maybe 2003. get your facts straight. oh yea i'm on the floor GA at big ass giants stadium too.
thank you

I had no problem getting a ticket at the door for Thee Oh Sees last night at merc. Awesome!

"oh yea i'm on the floor GA at big ass giants stadium too.
thank you"
Hilarious this fool thinks being GA at Giants Stadium for a show is some kind of awesomeness.
I wish this guy said this to me in person so i could laugh at him to his face.

nfl schedules aren't out yet, but they really should add a 3rd night. easy money
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 10:59 AM
well would you rather be on the floor or in the nosebleeds or at home with your shitty dan deacon album?
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 11:00 AM
I was able to scoop a pair of tickets today for a friend (who mised he sale) since I had already gotten mine via presale. I must agree with those above that mentioned about how annoying it is that TM says you have a 1 minutre wait then jumps to 5, 10, 15 , 5, 3, until you get (or dont get) something.
However, life is good. There is nothing like a U2 show and I am psyched about the upcoming tour!

I forgot -- any band that plays in front of more than 15 people at once and doesn't play shows in some roach-infested hole-in-the-wall club must not be any good, and that band's fans can't possibly know anything about music. I hope you and the other nihilists enjoy the next show for whatever your favorite indie-band-of-the-week is these days. You obviously know much more about music than any U2 fan ever could.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 11:11 AM
Anon 10:51...hahhaha this is exactly the reason why so many Americans listen to such bad music. U2 hasn't made a decent album since late 80s (I can't even remember the name cause they're not even relevant anymore)...
and yes if you like to be on the field at Giants Stadium and think that is better than seeing Radiohead at MSG, Theater at MSG, or Liberty State Park...you're out of your mind!
P.S. You paid more for Radiohead b/c you got shut out....2003 tixs were around 50 I believe and 2006 show at Theater was $54....so yea you did pay more for your stupid U2 show...enjoy it with your 30-40 yr old college buddies
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 11:12 AM
never said u2 show is or will be better than a radiohead show. shut up please. i didn't get shut out on rh tix either.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 11:17 AM
u2 is geh
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 12:07 PM
Bono and Africa will be paying all the ticketmaster fees.
Bellamy will blow Bono out of the swamps of nj.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 12:13 PM
Well if you didn't get shut out, then stop saying that Radiohead ticket prices were more than U2 tickets cause they obviously weren't and will never be cause Radiohead aren't greedy like U2....
Posted by Anon 10:51/11:17 | April 6, 2009 12:16 PM
lady ga-ga rules. u2 and radiohead are posers.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 12:31 PM
Of course thousands of seats were available for $30, but that is being ignored by the "U2 don't care about the fans" crowd. Great music can come in a 25 capacity bar or a stadium. Saying anything different makes you sound, at best elitist, and at worst like you just stared your freshman semester in NYC after living in Iowa (i.e. you suddenly think you know EVERYTHING). I spend the vast majority of time going to see indie bands (be they, punk, hardcore, metal or rock)but I outgrew the "people listen to them, so they must suck now" idea when I was 19.
Posted by adam | April 6, 2009 12:33 PM
hey adam. this slamming states in the midwest thing is total bullshit. stop fucking doing it!
we all know that 99% of all irritating nubes to NYC are from New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, Upstate, etc.
people from the rest of the country usually make the transition with a lot less awkward stage than the suburban dufuses do.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 12:45 PM
damn i wish muse would do a solo tour.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 1:05 PM
spidermam musical? by u2? probably the worst idea of all time. next to u2 becoming a band.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 1:59 PM
Lady Ga-Ga is a man.
And the midwest sucks.
Posted by Anonymous | April 6, 2009 2:32 PM
Who the fuck spells it n-u-b-e-s? It's either 'newbs' or 'noobs' or 'n00bs'.
