Animal Collective, who along with Panda Bear are scheduled to play ATP NY in September, are on tour and play Terminal 5 in NYC tonight (5/13) with Grouper. Much like the box set, the show sold out almost instantly (when it went on sale back in January). Since then, AC have added two more summer NYC shows at the Prospect Park Bandshell (both not free). Tickets are still available for the Saturday, August 15th one.

Last week AC appeared on Late Night With David Letterman. Video from that performance below...

Great studio band - Awful live...

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 4:07 PM

love how whoever their lead "singer" is was wearing some tween "Spring Break" shirt on Letterman ... cmon fool, you're 36. Grow up poser.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 4:11 PM

hey, just a warning for everyone going to terminal 5 tonight...be careful if you're smoking weed near the venue. a buddy of mine got busted by undercover cops the evening of the ratatat show. the cops went around the area for a few hours looking for smokers near terminal 5. be careful yall!!

Posted by friend | May 13, 2009 4:23 PM

@ 4:23 ^^ good lookin out

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 4:31 PM

Damn coppers!

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 4:42 PM

these guys are really awesome at playing CDs... should be a fun show!!

Posted by yoga | May 13, 2009 4:47 PM

I watch the video and think "some dudes playing samples , annoying singing, some modern-dance crap in the background"
Am I on fucking Mars or does this sound REALLY bad?
This is all Pitchfork and it's sheep can offer?
I'm seriously getting too old for this shit.

I love AC live. pure fun! if you don't get it that is your problem, or maybe you just don't smoke marijuana :)

"love how whoever their lead "singer" is was wearing some tween "Spring Break" shirt on Letterman ... cmon fool, you're 36. Grow up poser."

2 things wrong w/ this post:

1. dave is def. not 36, try subtracting 5 years off it, old man.

2. you the poser who so hung up on dudes clothing. get over it, or are your skinny jeans an American Apparel tshirts too tight?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 5:13 PM

They are awesome live! Not going tonight but going to August and every other time I have seen them is great.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 5:14 PM

can't wait to get my box set

enjoy the show tonight! smoke dope on the roof!

look forward to prospect and ATP!

"$92 for three records? WTF?"

Oh don't forget 3 records of basically badly recorded white noise experimentalism. This is early AC stuff. Check around the net and see the people who paid for this talking about how it is going to be worth tons of money in the future. Clueless idiots. I mean if you enjoy their really early stuff and want to hear bad sounding live, demos and rehersal stuff then more power to you. But don't think you grabbed a goldmine.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 5:43 PM

4:32 is an undercover cop.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 6:03 PM

hahaha. yeah well 5:43 you are making that assumption without hearing the final product. i myself am excited to hear that shit on vinyl...

animal collective are pretty fond of themselves

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 6:20 PM

probably the Achilles' heel of brooklyn vegan is that it attracts flavor of the month deadbeats. animal collective has been doing this for a long time; they've paid their dues, and its about time they get to do such rad stuff as this. they rule and all of you do not. thumbs up to the people who snagged the box and going to jam out tonight

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 6:42 PM

does anyone who posts here actually like any bands?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 11:11 PM

the Animal Collective vitriol is hilarious. you can pretty much cut and paste all the same comments from every other AC thread that's ever existed on this site and put them here and on tomorrow's thread with pics from tonight's show

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 12:07 AM

these guys really aren't good. you've all been deluding yourself for years now. just watch that video. it's not good. admit it to yourselves!

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 12:23 AM

sick of the predictable AC backlash on BV. I totally love AC and have for a while. it is really great that they are getting some deserved attention for such an awesome album and the live shows are pretty fun as well...

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 12:49 AM

Great fucking band.

Awful venue though.

And way too many coked up slutty girls puking everywhere.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 9:07 AM

wow theres a lot of really angry people on here. and why smoke weed at their concert when you can just take molly.

Posted by ed | May 14, 2009 9:12 AM

Says Philip at 6 in the morning..

Go Sluts!

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 9:14 AM

I didn't go last night but I have a feeling they played basically the same setlist as January shows...

Who went last night? Anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 9:44 AM

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ftw
crack box gone
why does this stuff always happen when i'm not around a computer?!
darn me for going to the electric factory show

i finally went to term 5 for the first time (been kind of avoiding it) last night
what are you kids talking about? term 5 is pretty awesome the sstage is low, the area isn't that humungous, it's way better than webster atleast
cracked out!
lesson learn never listen to BV comments especially since you all fib!

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 9:56 AM

Thought the show was fantastic. Highlight for me was Fireworks. Lights/visuals were great. Sound is always lacking at T5 but all in all I think I got a lot for my $30.

Posted by Andy | May 14, 2009 9:58 AM

Last two albums by AC have been awful. They've lost me.

Posted by Gorbert | May 14, 2009 10:26 AM

great show

yes, setlist was similar

they played new songs, plus fireworks, most of MPP, slippi, leaf house...

crazy fight outside following the show. some dude was smacking up a girl

Posted by lauren | May 14, 2009 10:52 AM

also was seth scoblionco (sp?) selling tix again!? i was looking for him

AC played for a pretty long time, 1 hour 45 minutes.

their opener was G O D A W F U L. much to be expected for an AC opener. Theyre always horrible.

Posted by lauren | May 14, 2009 10:54 AM

i went last night my fifth AC show ive been a long time fan
i feel something was off it was very off from the others ive been to
i was somewhhat disappointed
