Deborah Harry and Pat Benatar

"For the first time ever, two pioneering rock legends, Blondie and Pat Benatar, will share the stage on the Call Me Invincible tour. They will be joined by special guests The Donnas. They will embark on a trek across the U.S., beginning in Saratoga, CA on July 21st and ending August 23rd in Houston, TX. The Blondie and Benatar ticket gives fans of all ages three decades of hits from the two female rock icons for the price of one! Says Blondie front woman Deborah Harry, "Pat Benatar is not only a friend, but a fearless female rocker who has entertained me and her wealth of fans for so many years. This will be a reunion for us both and being able to bring our two shows to fans across the country is very exciting!" Between Blondie and Benatar, the tour will feature songs from a combined ten Platinum albums, eight #1 Hits and countless other favorites including "Heart of Glass," "Heartbreaker," "Call Me," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Rapture," "Invincible," "One Way or Another" and "Love is a Battlefield." Pat Benatar adds, "Deborah and I have been friends forever. I'm thrilled that we're finally getting an opportunity to tour together, it should be a blast." The tour also showcases original artwork created by New Orleans artist, Tim Neil. His unique design will be the recognizable image of the tour featuring the clever blending of both iconic faces and will also be available for purchase on select merchandise items.

Call me poor, I need some money after 20 + years out of the lime light tour.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 4:11 PM

Anyone ever seen a show at this place? Does it get insanely crowded? Seems like the usually have pretty big (free) acts there.

Posted by wembley | May 12, 2009 4:14 PM

The best part of this whole bill is that it's the Donnas who have to be considered washed-up.

Blondie? For free? I take back what I said on the East River Park free shows! :D

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 4:44 PM

Pat Benetar? For Free? I take back what I said...

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 4:59 PM

what a way to ruin blondie and pat benetar by adding in that shitty band, the donnas. ew! the only band to actually destroy women in rock.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 5:06 PM

Is this a seated venue or out in a field?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 5:17 PM

it's both a seated show and out in the field. The field is free the seats costs like $5 .

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 5:35 PM

I'm actually really psyched for this!

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 6:33 PM

this is where Huey played for free last summer.. I'm not sure if it's because cops dig themselves some Huey, or if it's because they were expecting to make some busts that night but I've never seen so many po-lice at a small outdoor show before in my life.

and bring a flask, too, because they don't sell booze at this place and the brown-bagged deuce will draw attention.

Blondie and Benatar... a weird pairing, when you think about it. sure, both are late 70's/early 80's guitar-pop-rock hit machines, but so different in both image and mood.

anyway, nothing is a guiltier pleasure than the following tunes:

promises in the dark
shadows of the night
we belong

(the verses to all three of which are completely interchangeable, by the way).

Drop the Donnas, add Juice Newton and you got the Early-80s Hit-Parade Trifecta

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 6:55 PM

yer mom can juice mah newton.
le zing.

Blondie and Pat Benatar are co-headlining, but who's going to go on last?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2009 9:46 AM

I saw Al Green there a few years ago. It is a great place for an outdoor concert.

Posted by Amalia Kapsalis | May 16, 2009 2:47 AM

The Donnas RULE, I'm leaving after them...
Saw Benetar years ago @ Pier 84 with Billy Squire, he was better.
Saw Blondie @ The Ramones Beat On Cancer Benefit, they were a lot better then I thought, but what's Blondie without Frank Infante???

Posted by stefan sonic | May 17, 2009 8:53 AM

If you don't enjoy the Donnas, you have never(really) listened to their music.I have to agree,The Donnas rule!So just pass that glass and don't bring the party down.

Posted by Slicks DoorMouse | May 30, 2009 5:19 PM

I live right near Asser Levy Park and have seen many concerts there. It can get crowded. Get there early. It's a great place to see a show-right by the beach.

Posted by rochelle | June 19, 2009 4:57 PM

Juice Newton - yeah! Bring back Girlschool, too.

Please totally drop the Donnas - the singer is hot but they are just bad. And will they ever sell out anything bigger than a bar?!

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2009 10:54 AM

The Donnas rock more than either of the old ladies. Just cause they don't sell out stadium's doesn't mean they aren't great. A lot of crappy bands sell millions of records. There is no strong correlation between talent and popularity.

Is this one of those "FREE" shows where you need to get tickets in advance?

"what time does the show start?"

This Concert is going to Rock! I've seen Pat Benatar since she has been touring non-stop-every summer since 1995. Her voice will blow the speakers out of all of the homes in and around Coney Island! Pat has not lost any of her vocal range and power ... and for the people who have never seen her in concert? ...Just wait till she rips through "Hell is for Children" she will knock your socks off!..not to mention Neil"Spyder Geraldo" who contiunes to show us fans just how great a guitarist he is!..and welcome back Myron!!

Hmm i am from Sweden and its a long way to USA so i canĀ“t be there and listen the fantastic songs, its so cruel because i love blondie ever since the -70 when i discover punk and new wave. Punk rules for ever.

Weird ...

Are The Donnas supposed to be Illinois on tour? I saw two of them last night around 9PM in Williamsburg.

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2009 3:46 PM

Shame that Debbie and Pat aren't coming to Orlando

Posted by Nigel Worrall | August 22, 2009 12:28 AM

I want them to come to Minnesota so bad.

Someone tell me how I can get them here???

Especially Blondie... .but both for sure.
