I'm curious if the picture of the empty store was during the concert or if there really wasn't anyone even shopping during the closing event. Tough times to be going out of business - can't even give stuff away.

i'd buy her flowers.

"I'm curious if the picture of the empty store was during the concert or if there really wasn't anyone even shopping during the closing event. Tough times to be going out of business - can't even give stuff away."

The rest of the store was actually very crowded while the performance was going on, probably the most crowded I've ever seen it.

Great show!

you think sufjan tapped that?

When does the store actually close? This wasn't the last day, right?

I have to say, I really will miss the Virgin Megastore in Union Square. It was the best of the big CD stores in town and was, of course, the only one left. Now, it's Other Music or... what, Amazon?

The employees at Virgin were actually into customer service on occasion. Crazy, I know. They clearly had been trained in using the power of small-- they stayed open when everyone else failed faster by retaining people through detailed service.

Forgive me for the rant, but I think it's really because I'm in love with Annie Clark and I'm just venting.

Is that first hat Supreme? Also, the set list font is so fitting for her; it looks like the menu at an upscale, modern restaurant.

why do women dress so dumb now? shit doesn't look good. there is a difference between fashion and trendy. fuck this 80's retro shit.

Her boob fits perfectly over the guitar curve in every photo.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 8:29 AM

Sickos. New album is dope though. Best of the year, top 5 of the decade.

Posted by leah | May 6, 2009 8:34 AM

hey 2:45, what's wrong with her outfit? it's a great simple, basic black outfit that shows off her legs nicely.. and boo to all of you pervs on here.

What a lame, boring way to end your store's run.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 8:49 AM

the store is open for the rest of the month I think

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 9:00 AM

The clearance prices are actually more expensive than the prices before the "store closing! everything must go!" sale started.

They used to have giant ten dollar dvd bins. Now those bins are 20% off of the regular price, which is between $14.99 and $19.99 for the discs in those bins. Not a good deal in my opinion.

I saw Annie in her backstage room of the Bowery once doing blow before a show. Other than that she seems nice enough and I'm liking the new album. Wish I didn't have to work so I could have seen this!

"I saw Annie in her backstage room of the Bowery once doing blow before a show. "

Stop starting rumors you asshole. I'm sure that is not true.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 9:56 AM

9:56pm what? musicians and that sorta behavior go hand in hand so its not like its a big deal.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 10:03 AM

Thanks for the great pics. The Webster Hall show later this month should be fun.

Posted by drewo | May 6, 2009 10:09 AM

Great pics. So cute... This is probably one of the only big box retailers I"m sad to see go. A landmark for me in NYC way before I even lived here...

Posted by BTW | May 6, 2009 10:16 AM

It is

"anyone think the bush is just as curly?"

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2009 10:42 AM

What I'm wondering is if anyone's bush is dead straight cause that I've got to see to believe.....

That's because the liquidation companies are in charge and basically charge what they want. On 'This American Life' a few weeks ago there was a story about Circuit City closing down and the employees talked about it all.

"I saw Annie in her backstage room of the Bowery once doing blow before a show."

The new album is too good for her not to have written it on blow. Go clean, Annie!!!!!

This show took place before I found out that Locke is planning to kill Jacob. Totally new mindset now.
