The Dead Weather @ Bowery Ballroom (more)
The Dead Weather

For a new band, with almost no released music, The Dead Weather sure did get big quick! That was an attempt at sarcasm, because really it's no surprise that Jack White's new band would choose Terminal 5 (on July 16th) as the location of their 2nd NYC show. Their first was at Bowery Ballroom.

The Dead Weather will be touring this summer with multiple dates in some cities, and just one show in NYC (for now?). Tickets for most of the shows go on presale on Wednesday. The NYC show goes on sale at Ticketmaster on Friday at noon ($30).

"The band's debut album Horehound, the first record to be recorded and released via Jack White's new Third Man studios and record label in Nashville, TN, will be made available through Third Man/Warner Bros Records on July 14th 2009. To date, The Dead Weather have released two tracks via iTunes and on limited edition 7" vinyl: "Hang You From The Heavens" and "Are Friends Electric?""

In related news, Meg White is now engaged "to guitarist Jackson Smith, the son of iconic rockers Patti Smith and Fred Smith".

If there were any justice in this world, Patti Smith would become Meghan McCain's mother-in-law.

And, the hype machine keeps on going...

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 10:24 PM

The White Stripes is the only thing Jack White has ever done that actually matters.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2009 11:34 PM

seriously, jack white sucks. when are people going to realize that? it is so obvious. thanks anon 11:34 for having the guts to call that out. surprisingly little commentary on this.

it could be because you are just flat out wrong...hard to tell.

its like defending zeppelin on this site from several months ago.

for people who claim to have so much knowledge and interest in the rock and roll...there are plenty of idiots on this site.

great. no texas shows except for acl. austin sucks

Posted by anonymous | May 13, 2009 6:04 PM

woo....terminal 5 and montreal here I come....have tickets already.....montreal....hooray for the lower drinking age.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2009 3:07 AM

why does T5 suck?

the only reason i have a slight grudge against it is because out of the venues that host good bands in the city, t5 probably has the lamest calender pretty consistently. .

anyone who thinks jack white sux either has horrible taste in music or is jealous...i can see the green glow from here

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2009 1:29 PM

Thank you anon 1:29! Jack White RULES!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 3, 2009 4:53 PM

jack white is pure genius.......GENIUS!!!!!

i like Jack White and i can honestly say he is a lot of hype. why people feel the need to take something good and blow it out of proportion idk. Jack White is awesome but he's NOT hendrix, The White Stripes create awesome smart music, the Raconteurs i like but haven't really become a fan of just yet, and i'm interested to see how The Dead Weather grows (some good music but nothing impressive yet).

that said, it's just my opinion and the fact of the matter is, you can hate on Jack all you want but when it comes down to it you like what you like, hear it like it no defense needed. hype goes both ways and there are plenty of spineless sh*t talkers out there that will hate and use other peoples' reasons why. stick to YOUR guns ppl.
