The Dead WeatherThe Dead Weather

Everyone knew this was coming. Jack White's Kill-fronted band The Dead Weather have added a 2nd NYC show to their current itinerary, and like the first one (July 16th), the second one (July 17th) is at the massive Terminal 5. Tickets for the new show go on presale tomorrow, May 27th starting at 10 am EST, and then regular sale on May 29th at 12 pm EST.

only jack white can sell out venues with a band that doesn't even have an album released yet. modern rock god.

Wonder how long it will take for the "Jack White could take a shit..." comment to appear

the pitchfork review of the new "Grizzly Bear" album is quite possibly the most awful piece I've ever read on the site..they better get their shit together over there in Chicago.

Wow I didn't expect new Grizzly Bear to get "Best New Music"....NOT....Pitchfork gets paid to give good reviews for some bands hint hint

Next Best Music will be the Dead Weather...watch

"Pitchfork gets paid to give good reviews for some bands hint hint "

ok, nut job.

That review of Veckatimest was absolutely atrocious. Regardless of the politics that go into P4K's ratings, that review was a heaping pile of dogshit. Plain and simple.

who the fuck cares about this band.
funny how people pay just to see someone in person.

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2009 12:56 PM

the Dead MEHther at TerMEHnal 5.

Agree, Veckatimest review was terrible. Pitchfork wastes so much time contextualizing the music and spends so little time actually dissecting it. The 'victory' of this album is that it succeeds without a backstory? Moron. Also, "Fine for Now" is wonderful. And "About Face" is embarrassingly bad.

"funny how people pay just to see someone in person."

have you forgotten that they are also paying to hear a band play music?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2009 1:10 PM

1:10 - music that they haven't even heard yet...so it makes perfect sense that the band is selling out 6,000 tickets on its merits.

yeah, right.

"1:10 - music that they haven't even heard yet...so it makes perfect sense that the band is selling out 6,000 tickets on its merits."

Why does this bother you? The White Stripes, The Kills, and the Raconteurs have fans. What is wrong with those fans wanting to see the new band?

The point is that any members of said band playing with Jack White are basically expendable and/or interchangeable/insignificant.

In this specific instance, it certainly doesn't hurt that the lead singer is kinda sexy, but aside from that, do the masses honestly care that she's from The Kills, or that Jack L is from The Racs, or that Fertita is from QOTSA? I'm going with a resounding no on that one.

Personally I could give 2 shits about Jack White. Im a "fan' of Allison and she sounds great on this project. I saw them at The Bowery and I have to say they were pretty good. I Don't know how well it will go over at Terminal 5 though.

"The White Stripes, The Kills, and the Raconteurs have fans. What is wrong with those fans wanting to see the new band?"

That's just it. They're going to see this new band out of blind, idol hero worship devoid of any merits that the music itself may or may not have. Even people who go see the American Idol tour aren't *that* gullible! And if they're not going for the music, which they aren't since they haven't heard it yet, then they're going to, as 12:56 put it, to be in the same physical space as Jack White, which is a rather shallow & pathetic.

Nothing goes over well at T5, except boosts to Bowery Presents' bottom line.

Terminal 5, Hands down worst venue in NYC

So, if Jimmy Page were to put together a project and road test some material before putting it to disc, then I guess Led Zep fans should just stay at home? Fuck off. Christ, why is the BV comment boards so stock full of fucking idiots all the time?

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2009 9:41 PM

@9:41: Since you mention Led Zep: Sometime last decade, John Paul Jones joined Diamánda Galás for a tour of hers. Led Zep fans who checked out shows on that tour were all "WTF is this shit?!"

Posted by Anonymous | May 26, 2009 11:47 PM

yea...i really don't see the issue with people going to see a band with a musician they are a fan of in it. if thom yorke started a band tomorrow and tickets went onsale i would buy them.

lemmings. lemmings all. enjoy your american apparel lifestyle, twats.

Posted by Anonymous | May 27, 2009 12:15 AM

Of all the bands/artists that are popular amongst BV readers, I would say Jack white attracts the least ammerican apparel wearers.
