The Vaselines

"On Sunday night at Bowery Ballroom, The Vaselines essentially played every song they ever wrote, including 2 new songs that sounded like they could have been written back in the late 80s along with the others. Opening the set with the energetically cheerful "Son of a Gun," they made it clear that they still had it after all these years. With reunion concerts it's very difficult to be anything but skeptical as a fan, especially with a band who has barely played together in almost 20 years. A couple songs later, a broken bike horn did little to subtract from the quirky poppy excellence of "Molly's Lips." Throughout the set the playful stage banter of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee added an extra element of fun to the night. It's rare to see such a genuinely clever dialogue on stage anymore." [NY Press]
The Vaselines' 2nd of two NYC shows is tonight (5/18) at Music Hall of Williamsburg. More pictures from last night's Bowery Ballroom show, below...

Anyone hear the Vaselines on Ron and Fez today? I heard them talking about it but didn't get to hear the interview.

The Vaselines were absolutely amazing live. So funny, too. Something's in the water in Scotland. Peat, maybe?

Woods are retarded. They bored everyone to tears. The Vaselines were decent. If I could get a refund, I would rather order a Pizza and stayed home.

prickly out there tonight, at least at exactly 9:40pm

I didn't see them last night but I saw them at southpaw last year. Amazing show. If you saw them and you didn't like it you clearly do not like the Vaselines and you should have stayed home with your pizza in the first place

Totally agree with 10:49. I, too, didn't go this time around, but I did see them at Southpaw last year, which was hands-down my favorite show of 2008.

If you saw them and you didn't like it you clearly do not like *rock'n'roll*.

I agree with both 10:49 and 11:14, while I wasn't there to see them this time either, but I did eat a delicious pizza last night and you clearly do not like pizza, you should have stayed home and played vaselines in the woods
