Phonique

Regrettably I have no disco adventures to tell you about from Thursday night and Friday night hasn't happened yet (at least not when I was writing this)...but I do have info on a whole bunch of places to get down this lovely 3-day weekend (& beyond) starting with...
Saturday night (5/23):
Phonique is deejaying at Sullivan Room. I first came across Phonique through his track "Casualities" which features Erlend Oye. I love the track but never got around to checking out any more of Phonique's music. From the sound of it, it's a bit on the techy side of house...but his background is very extensive and varied (check out his bio on RA) so who knows what he might play. Download his Radio Sputnik mix from last month at the top of this post. Party info and tracklisting below:
Advanced tickets available here.

- Skinny Friedman is at Arrow Bar (download a mix from him in last week's post)
- Save the Cannibals at Rebel with Guy Gerber.
- I Love Vinyl at Le Poisson Rouge:
a new monthly all-vinyl oasis at the Gallery Bar at LPR, featuring a dream team of resident romantics. Sharing deck duties will be djs Amir (bbe), one half of the internationally known rare record digger mixtape duo, Kon & Amir; prolific beatsmith Ge-Ology (Female Fun), boasting remix credits from Pete Rock to PPP; The Twilite Tone (Great Weekend), both a key player in the seminal 90's Chicago house scene, and long-time producer and dj for Common; New York veterans OP! and Scribe (Raw Fusion NYC), and Jon Oliver (EVR), the baby of the bunch. with these heavy hitters butting music heads, expect sonic sparks, and stellar unannounced guests. the sounds will be mind-wide, foot-friendly, and snap crackle popping. no laptops allowed.Sunday (5/24):
Sunday night there are lots of outdoor dance parties happening but before I get to them...an exciting indoor option at Studio B: Famous Friends and Big Stereo present Vega, making his live New York City debut (+ dj sets from Hugo van Dyck, Flashmen, and VDRK). I just recently became familiar with Vega's music which is super retro, poppy, discoey, and housey all at once. Check out the 80's-ness paired with the fittingly old school skate movie "Thrashin" below along with the party info and download some Vega & Flashmen tracks at the top of this post.
Free with RSVP
