SO MUCH going on today. I picked Monster Magnet but I'm pretty frustrated I had to choose it over the Melvins show. That's going to be insane. Trevor Dunn!

late night skeletonbreath. nice.

I asked Oakley Hall about the Coco66 show - this is what I got:
"that one never was happening in the first place.. seems someone neglected to inform Coco66 of this."
Pat Sullivan is, however, playing The Secret Project Robot BBQ on Sunday.

jesus christ...there are at least a dozen things that i want to go to tonight! thank god i live in the best city on earth. some places don't get this many good acts per year, never mind per night.
Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2009 6:34 PM
thanks Brandon!

sonic youth set times for tomorrow? also, is it literally going to be 40 minutes of "fucking insane" noise or are they going to squeeze some songs in there?
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 2:28 AM
nothing but noise. please stay home if you want to hear traditional SY songs.
Posted by Lori | May 16, 2009 2:32 AM
^^^at least he doesn't have to take pictures of crystal castles.
and who would want to hear a set of just noise? i think everyone would prefer a mix of traditional and noise
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 2:36 AM
how late did the no fun fest go on friday? how can they possibly squeeze in that many bands if it doesn't get out at 4am?
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 2:37 AM
melvins killed it tonight! dale crover is a force of fucking nature!
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:30 AM
no fun fest got out ~1:15ish ( i think -bastard noise eroded crucial neural networks in my association cortex)
they were able to get all those 'bands' in by being super organized and by starting on time. that actually happens at some venues.
it was pretty awesome.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 10:49 AM
how many times do you gotta hear it, 1:10am?
HIPSTERS AREN'T THE ONES COMMENTING ON BROOKLYN VEGAN.
These threads are way too lame way for anyone cool to follow them.
No, the people who comment on BV are college and high school aged nerds and losers, many from other parts of the country, along with grumbling music industry cranks (like myself) who have to read this shit and do damage control - because dumbasses give credence to what's said here.

luv u 1:12
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 1:32 PM
how so? everything 1:12 says sounds spot on to me.
confirms all the things I've ever gleaned from reading the comments on BV. It's always uninformed fucks goign on about bs just so they sound like they're in the know, and a couple of informed people lying through their teeth to ster the argument and get people to like or hate whatever's in their vested interest to have peeps liking or hating.
just a bunch of idiots and hustlers.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 1:37 PM
"just a bunch of idiots and hustlers"
Wait but isn't that what hipsters are? Well more like a bunch of idiots and wanna be hustlers.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 1:42 PM
It's a beautiful day.
Don't let it get away.
Posted by you too | May 16, 2009 1:57 PM
not really. hipsters are people who dress well, have good taste, and have social lives.
none of those things describe the people who post here.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 2:00 PM
"hipsters are people who dress well, have good taste, and have social lives"
If that comment was a serious one then i must insist you get yourself a frontal lobotomy and quick.
"It's a beautiful day.
Don't let it get away"
Thanks, you should follow the same advice

"and who would want to hear a set of just noise? i think everyone would prefer a mix of traditional and noise"
People who want to hear a set of just noise are people who go to no fun fest, which is a....wait for it.... noise fest.

2:11- Touch me; take me to that other place.
Teach me.
I know I'm not a hopeless case.

here's an alternate definition of hipster:
someone who's got a way more interesting life than the people who troll message boards, especially this one.
someone who has friends, follows new music, knows about art and fashion, gets laid way more often than the people who troll message boards, especially this one.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 2:24 PM
Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months

I bow down to you oh giant idiot. Never did i think i would come this close to finding the world's most clueless moron.

fashion is the purest art form, even if it's also the most commercial and has the least to say emotionally.
fashion actually has to do something, unlike every other art form.
its sole purpose is to use aesthetics to enhance the body in a creative way that's fresher and hotter to the eye than what everybody else on the street is wearing. it gets even more interesting when its purpose is to look fresh and hot particularly in the eyes of the people the wearer is interested in.
Hipsters, especially indie rock hipsters (talking mostly about women here), take this a step further by putting together their own outfits from a hodgepodge of sources, creating their own look even if they can't make their own clothes.
people who put this down as "all hipsters dress the same" (see: any criticism that ever mentions American Apparel) are missing the point and aren't actually looking very hard.
The proof is right here: do you ever catch yourself looking at a girl at a show who isn't your physical type but attracts you visually anyhow? well guess what, "hipster" fashion just worked!
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:01 PM
2:49, calling the other side stupid is as good as your arguments get I guess.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:03 PM
Anon 3:03
Stupid is as stupid does.
So, sometimes all it takes is the most simple of terms to size someone up.
I guess i would give a more in depth arguement if it was actually needed. But when someone makes the most ridiculously false and laughable statements what else is there to do but call them dumb.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:14 PM
if "hipsters" are a real problem in your life, then you might want to take the Greeks to heart...
I believe they said it best when they said "KNOW THYSELF."
you're projecting super hard dude. People would probably like you better if you didn't resent them for being more happy, successful, sociable, attractive, in the know, etc, than you are. In brief, for all the reasons you call them "hipsters."
Hipsters are you, you are hipsters; except in one important way... hipsters are happy and have friends, whereas you hate everyone and probably hate yourself even more. See the source of your problem yet? I bet you can find it, if you look in the mirror.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:24 PM
Ahahahahah 3:24 another "pseudo" psychologist. Maybe if you spent less time trying to justify your squalid existence and more time on actually gaining an education then you would not sound so dumb.
But please keep telling everyone how great that life is. It is pure comedy.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:49 PM
its not so much that everyone else's life is so great, as much as you pathetically resent most everyone else because you're a hateful loser on the internet with no life and no prospects. you have no prospects because you're so hateful... see how it works?
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 3:53 PM
^^^^HAHAHAHA Look at the loser hipster seething with anger. Relax moron, life cannot be all that bad for you.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 4:10 PM
it's pretty sad watching this guy act.
dude, you're only so hateful of the other creative, bohemian white people (ie, hiptsers, of which you are one) because you inwardly believe you're not as good as the other ones are at being a creative bohemian white guy. So you see them and their lives and it makes you feel like a loser, and you get hostile to others because you don't like feeling bad.
It's called jealousy, and I don't have to be a psychologist or pseudo psychologist to know that when I see it.
I also don't have to be all that perfect to still suck at life less than you do.
Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 4:25 PM
Yes hipster loser, keep telling yourself that your enemies are all just jealous of you. That they want to be you. That everyone is just like you but not as creative as you. That they suck at life more than you.
Pretty sure this is how you got past high school getting beat up all the time.
Keep seething hipster doofus. Hilarious.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2009 5:16 PM
@Anon4:25pm - Why do you automatically assume that the person you're debating with is a white male? Also, are you saying that only "bohemian white people" can be hip? Presumptuous and wrong of you.
