Jack Penate & Miike Snow - 2009 tour dates (3 in NYC-area)
DOWNLOAD: Jack Penate - Tonight's Today (MP3)
Jack Penate @ Pianos on June 4th (more by Tim Griffin)

In early June, UK singer Jack Penate flew all the way to the U.S. for a pair of NYC dates at Bruar Falls and Pianos. Then, in mid-June, Swedish trio Miike Snow made a similar, albeit more extended trip , playing a pair of NYC shows with the Maccabees and Hatcham Social...
"...[Miike Snow] was definitely not my thing, but they were good and what they did, and in general people [at the Music Hall of Williamsburg show] seemed to be pretty excited about them. There definitely seemed to be a buzz going on about them, but I'm not so sure I get it. However, they seemed like perfectly nice dudes and I was happy to see them get a positive response.Miike and Jack will return to tour the country together this September and October. Dates include a pair of shows at the Mercury Lounge on September 15th and 16th, and a show at NJ venue Maxwell's on September 19th. Tickets for the Mercury Lounge shows go on AmEx presale today (Wednesday, June 24th) at noon. General sale starts Friday, June 26th at noon, which is the same time tickets for the Maxwell's show go up.The Maccabees played next. I had never listened to them either, but people were really fired up for them, especially the British chick next to us who rolled solo to the show because she loves the band so much. She guaranteed my friend and I that we wouldn't be disappointed by them live. I was skeptical, but she turned out to be right. They were really loud, energetic, and fun to watch. The tunes were catchy and the performance was tight. I don't know that I am going to run out and buy the album, but it was a great show to go to for free." [Before They Make Me Run]
Miike Snow's self-titled debut is out now on Downtown Records. The new disc by Jack Penate, Everything Is New, will be out August 18th on XL Recordings. The first single from that, "Tonight's Today," is available above. A pair of Penate videos, including one for "Tonight's," are below, with all tour dates...

Miike Snow just sucks. 3 old dudes, 2 of em producers another a failed singer songwriter with the most calculated, banal shit disguised as "hip, of the moment" dance rock. No wonder the music industry is in such a troubled state.

I like Miike Snow. I'm pissed I couldn't go see them on Monday. I'm happy they will be back so soon. Another day, another hater.

people were probably excited to see them bc of all the amazing remixes that keep popping up on rcrdlbl, etc...... i like miike snow alone but the remixes - like DJ Medhi's remix of Burial, for instance - are HOTT.
