Williamsburg, Brooklyn (not Jay Mundy) on Sunday (photo by Ryan Muir)
Sir Richard Bishop

"I've never seen so many sick weirdos gathered in one place. They're all doing drugs all day. They have their hair dyed and tattoos so they can't have a job so they're all living on public assistance...They love Obama and the leftists and hate police power. They're carefree people. If I lived there a day, I tell you I would be in jail for murder. Take the weirdest hippie you know, and multiply it by 1000, and that's Williamsburg." -Jay Mundy
First of all, that is NOT conservative talk show host Jay Mundy in the picture above, but it is a dude who was very upset with most people on Bedford this past Sunday (6/14).

Jay MundyJay Mundy, quoted above, also doesn't like people on Bedford, but that can't be him in the picture because he's much younger. Listen to his whole rant by playing the two embedded videos below...

I'm stoked that the conservatives have been sent back to 1950s and 60s era shenanigans.

He obviously didn't read the recent NY Times trust fund article.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 8:20 AM

He should've seen it before all the condos filled with young breeders were built . . . Anyhow, I wonder what it's like to make a living talking about having creepy murderous urges, and pandering to the laughable culture-based fears of really paranoid and uptight mouth-breathers. What kind of guy hears a blustery right-wing rant and says to himself "I want to BE that guy"? How does it feel to be a court jester for the most fearful and xenophobic people in America, Mr. Mundy? Also: "all living on public assistance" . . . does it ever occur to a person like this that they could verify their claims with just a little bit of research? Why the shitty work ethic, Mr. Mundy? I haven't got time this morning but with literally 30 seconds of effort I discovered that between 1990 and 2000, the number of people on public assistance in the Williamsburg area decreased by 5141 households. Finding out the actual percentage compared to other neighborhoods shouldn't be much more difficult. Unless you are a lazy, rage-filled, tone-deaf clown, apparently.

Posted by Hmmm | June 18, 2009 8:39 AM

The parents/financers of those kids on the stoop listen to Jay Mundy daily

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 8:40 AM

Jay Mundy should probably never travel to certain parts of Los Angeles, CA or to Austin, TX or to Northampton, MA or to Allston, MA or to Portland, OR or to Seattle, WA or to... Ah, Jay Mundy, basically just stay inside your conservative cave for the rest of your life and you'll be fine.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 8:47 AM

You spend your life on welfare lines
Or looking for handouts
Why don't you go find a job
You birth more kids to up your checks
So you can buy more drugs
Cash in food stamps and get drunk

Uncle Sam takes half my pay
So you can live for free
I got a family and bills to pay
No one hands money to me
You can go to school for nothing
Got that government grant
Get money in advance
When you're sick from shooting up
Medicaid pays full portion
When little Maria gets knocked up
She gets a free abortion

How come it's minorities who cry
Things are too tough
On TV with their gold chains
Claim they don't have enough
I say make them clean the sewers
Don't take no resistance
If they don't like it go to hell
And cut their public assistance

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 8:52 AM

Preach on Brother Mundy!

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 8:58 AM

People sitting around carefree, who dont like cops, and live on public assistance: many neighborhoods in New York.

"They're carefree people. If I lived there a day, I tell you I would be in jail for murder"

Not funny. You're more deranged and "godless" than those you attack.

That dude screaming in the picture used to walk around the Lower East Side and East Village back then. He'd be telling everyonr hanging out at Tompkins Square how much they sucked even though they called themselves artists. Pretty funny even the weirdos left for Brooklyn.

BV don't do this,

Don't give this Jay Mundy any more time, just like Limbaugh, if we ignore this fuck he will go away. The only reason these clowns get to hang around is because they are empowered by how much the other right wingers think we hate them, If we collectively ignore them Just like annoying children they will find something else to do...
No more stories in the liberal media about how offensive they are and they will start to lose steam, we are feeding these pricks. the whole thing is goddamn childish and these "pundits" only exist to be contrary, let's not give them a stage on which to perform their hateful monkey show.

Posted by scrath | June 18, 2009 9:30 AM

The fact that he is calling apolitical hipsters leftist speaks to the fact that he has no idea what being leftist really means. If he really wants leftist allegiance, he should look at the South Bronx where both Kerry and Obama won by a margin of almost 9-1.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 9:38 AM

"He is not a conservative radio host. He is a nobody who put an audio track on youtube. Stop feeding the trolls, and do two seconds of research next time."

http://www.jaymundy.com/2003/09/about-jay-mundy.html

"Jay Mundy is an American journalist, blogger, and conservative talk-show host based in New York City.

Mundy, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, began his media career as a newspaper beat reporter, and later moved on to commentary. After moving into opinion journalism, Mundy worked at a major national talk radio network, and became involved in conservative politics. As a young conservative, schooled in both media and politics, he seeks to revive conservatism in the United States of America and abroad.

He currently hosts The Jay Mundy Show, runs the Web site www.JayMundy.com which features news and conservative analysis, and is conducting graduate research in Political Science. Mundy is a devout, observant Roman Catholic and considers himself a "traditional American conservative." He lives in New York City."

"this guy is like my internal monologue everyday as I try to get to work walking through Williamsburg, it's a true story, fucking stupid dogs!"

Why the fuck are you living in/around Williamsburg?

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:08 AM

Seriously, my jaw hurts from laughing so hard at this bozo. The jelousy is so intense in his rantings its scary.

"It is so left-wing you have to see it to believe it"

Um, where there monuments to Che? Nationalized health care? A complete and substantial network of support services?
For a "conservative" political personaliy he really knows nothing about what poltitical terms like "left-wing" really means.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:11 AM

I'm a conservative, but I have never heard of this guy and he sounds like a complete idiot. Just like Limbaugh and Coulter. That being said, I can't stand the lemmings in Williamsburg either.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:12 AM

He's correct. I don't think very much effort went into making the decision to vote in Obama. Unless you want America to be poor and dysfunctional like Europe.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:16 AM

Who?

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:22 AM

I never heard of Jay Mundy, but it sounds like he is sounds like yet another know-it-all idiot nobody like Coulter or Al Franken.

His assessment of Bedford Ave is slightly out-dated however. When Williamsburg turned to shit in the '90s-early '00s with all the transient hipster transplants moving in, the place was filled with stupid asymmetrical haircuts and ironic clothing choices. I would hate taking the L to Bedford to see a show at N6 or Luxx/Trash.

Nowadays Bedford ave is somewhat better. Gone are the stupid hipsters, but instead you have the ibanker scum. They are cleaner and don't do the stupid things scenesters do (fixed gear, skinny jeans), so I approve of them over the hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:23 AM

Most of the people he's talking about are nowhere near leftist.

Obama is not leftist, he's so far right he's a handshake away from McCain. The fact that Republicans and Democrats (and the neo-fascist media they control) consider their parties opposites is absurdly ignorant.

Republicans : Democrats :: Hitler : Mussolini

That's a more accurate comparison.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:23 AM

If being a "hipster" means that right-wing talk show radio hosts hate you, well, then I've never been so happy to be a hipster!

Posted by The End of Irony | June 18, 2009 10:35 AM

I can't believe how ignorant this fellow is.

I'm sure he's a total racist. He has to be.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 11:07 AM

"this guy is like my internal monologue everyday as I try to get to work walking through Williamsburg, it's a true story, fucking stupid dogs!"
-------
Why the fuck are you living in/around Williamsburg?
------

I had the same monologue...so to answer the poster above: well when you have lived in a neighbourhood for most of your life, and one day you wake up, and the L train is riddled with monotony...and you start to realise you are the minority in an environment where everyone used to know what the word "diverse" means, you start to have that internal monologue in your head. So, why the fuck am I living in/around Williamsburg? Cuz that's been my neighbourhood back when none of those people who now flood the area would've thought twice about stepping there. Back before these overpriced condos (for people who want to live in Manhattan but can't) blocked the view from the river...Back when the word "vegan" was a myth...

But now I live off the J and guess what?! It's happening there too! It's like I try to run and the trend follows me...hahah

Posted by NIKKI | June 18, 2009 11:15 AM

ok nikki. I call bullshit on you.

you live in Williamsburg AND you're a reader of fucking Brooklyn Vegan... and can actually listen these obviously clumsy dumbshit mischaracterizations of the neighborhood and "hear your own inner monologue..."

bullshit bullshit bullshit.

you're obviously another "merry prankster" trying to get a rise out of your peers by saying "provocative" crap and pretending to be someone you aren't. how juvenile.

10:23 - No one gives a flying fuck about what you approve or disapprove of. You are obviously some loser who likes to say the same dumb ass shit on every Wburg related article on this blog. Your thoughts are insanely out-dated and regurgitated. No one cares how annoying it was to have to attend shows at N6 or Trash and be surrounded by scenesters. No one cares about what you have to say about Wburg because what you say has been said about ten million times before. No one forces you to go anywhere or do anything. Shut the fuck up, stop whining and start taking responsibility for your own fucking actions and decisions or go make friends who are as dumb as you are and will listen to your 5-years-too-late "opinions".

the term "trustafarian" isn't a new thing....it originates from grateful dead/ phish culture in the early nineties when guys and gals would have dreads and look really poor while on tour but were really being funded by daddy. it really doesn't even make sense why the term would be used for hipsters nowadays.
