Williamsburg

"In this monologue, conservative talk show host Jay Mundy lambastes New York City yuppies and hipsters, individuals that he assesses as self-loathing and who have been so psychologically disturbed by their earlier life experiences that they seek to become outcasts and start anew as "New Yorkers."" -Jay Mundy
Jay Mundy, whose Wikipedia page was deleted for being "Clearly a self-penned vanity bio", obviously enjoyed all the attention and comments he got from his first round of delusional Williamsburg bashing. He enjoyed it so much, that he recorded a new one. In this one he mentions the "freaks who have been listening to the program lately", and claims, among other things, that he has "hundreds of thousands of listeners around the country". File under comedy, and listen below...

Part 1 HERE.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 5:35 AM

You play right into his hands by posting this attention getting babble. I never would have even heard of this guy if BV didn't post it....

...you know because self-loathing B'burgers only get their news from music blogs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 9:25 AM

What did he say? I am not going to bother with the video. I do agree with his criticism in the first video, Bedford Ave is (used to be) filled with stupid hipster. Look at me, my bicycle has no brakes, I'm cool!!!!!!!!

marketing ploy. next thing dude is gonna start playing animal collective as bumper music.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 10:58 AM

I found this whole Jay Mundy thing funny at first, but now it scares me that people might actually be listening to this delusional, ill-informed, and hateful nutjob.

Though, it is still hilarious when he makes complete blanket statements that have no basis in reality. I also like it when he tries so hard to do his best bill o'reilly radio voice.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 11:10 AM

is this guy a bit over the top and way conservative, well sure, and yeah, that is funny.

But, is he completely off-base about the absurd hipster plague in ny (and wburg in particular). Well...not really. That shit is ridiculous, and most of y'all are pretentious as all fuck without any discernible taste to speak of. fraud is a pretty appropriate word.

How many bad mustaches must I be subjected to.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 11:31 AM

So much for religious compassion. And on top of everything, the man has no grasp of the English language.

Republicans are self-loathing, closet homosexuals, adulterers, hypocrites, fraudulent "god-fearing", selfish pigs.

Posted by Stang | June 28, 2009 12:02 PM

Of course he has a point, but his point about "hipsters in Williamsburg" is obvious and played out. The rest of what he says is just nonsense. I wonder if he even graduated high school.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 12:07 PM

I love how he brags about being a "real" New Yorker, but then also brags about being Italian and Irish.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 12:08 PM

why do all his intro music choices talk about beer?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2009 12:09 PM

hmm so yea ... ok... real new yorker. add that to the resume

BV, why are you putting this crap on your site? Why are you giving this guy a platform? (You control the content of your site, right?) It's ugly, hateful stuff. I would not have even known this guy existed were it not for BV. The best way to deal with a guy like this is to ignore him...

I hope so! I would learn a lot from such a debate!

I liked Williamsburg better pre-gentrification.The hasids and afro-amercicans gave Willyburg character
that it lacks with all the mustacheod mid western poopyheads.

Jay Mundy is the epitome of a bigot. Aren't religious people taught to be tolerant and understanding of others? Maybe that's just how I thought it went down. Keep on keepin' on BV.
What an ill-accented asshole.

Posted by tristessejoie | June 28, 2009 11:16 PM

Jay Mundy is comedy gold. I doubt anyone, even conservatives, take him seriously. Anyone that would take him seriously is beyond hope anyway, so who cares.

I am the biggest liberal, pot smoking, gay friendly person around, but unfortunately he is right about Williamsburg. It's hilarious.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 11:00 AM

Wow! That guy is pathetic. I hope he has a heart attack.

BV really shouldn't be contributing to his ego by posting his stuff here.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 11:37 AM

This is so funny. Thank God Brooklyn is much bigger than Williamsburg. They should have the opportunity to be their own borough so that Brooklyn as a whole can get its pride back.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 1:38 PM

Fuck Williesburb' but double fuck Park Slope. Those yuppie fucks there are all planting their seeds for yuppie domination for hundreds of years to come.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 4:23 PM

Seems like this guy has recently read the GREAT GATSBY and taken one of its main themes a bit too much to hear.

Posted by English Professor | June 29, 2009 4:29 PM

This guy is just staying what many actual "new yorkers" think.
His being a dick.
But...he is stating the truth.
Hipsters, Yuppies, and Fraudsters do think they're real new yorkers.
Don't get made Hipsters...
This dude prolly has a beard and flannel on right now.

Fort Greene is worst than Williamsburg by far. That's all I'm sayin'.

Posted by Anonymous | July 3, 2009 12:24 AM

As I understand it New York is, and has always made up of immigrants and those who want to be involved with one of the most exiting cultural cities in the world- was Andy Warhol, Debbie Harry, Grace Jones or David Byrne born in NY? Is there any such thing as a REAL New Yorker?

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2009 1:55 PM

Yes, not you.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2009 2:02 PM

"Hipster" is a derogatory term among hipsters, so the "fraudster" permutation wouldn't work even if it sounded similar.

But seriously, Mccarren Park on a Saturday in July?? Not the best place in the world to be a white blood cell.

Above is the first half of a radio rant he went on excoriating the entire neighborhood of Williamsburg, which he defines as "a place that is now the official hipster neighborhood of the United States of America." And what is it like there, Jay Mundy?! "Picture the most left-wing, lunatic, liberal, hippy, 1960s nutcase--get that image in your head. Keep that in your head a second.
