Major Lazer (Diplo) @ Other Music - June 15, 2009 (knnth_stvns)
Diplo

The DJ/producer duo Major Lazer (aka Diplo and Switch) are currently touring in support of their new album. On Saturday they played SOB's in NYC, and on Monday there was an Other Music in-store. Today (6/19) they make two appearances in Philly. This Saturday (6/20) they are scheduled to be in Baltimore AND DC. For that reason, I am guessing that won't actually be at the video shoot that is happening Saturday afternoon at Studio B in Brooklyn, but you can be...

We need extras to turn up in NYC for the Major Lazer "Keep It Going Louder" video featuring Nina Skye and Ricky Blaze. It'll be at Studio B in Brooklyn (259 Banker St, Brooklyn NY 11222) from 1pm to 5pm. Dress for success, we'll have some schwag to give out while supplies last.
Thunderheist plays Studio B on Friday night.

This is the coolest thing I've even seen and yes, I am a d-bag.

I'm not a d-bag and can say this album is very disappointing...thrown together shit in an obvious attempt to make big licensing/publishing $$$.

i want to go to this but am afraid of sweaty men.

With sniveling dbags sitting at home criticizing a motherfucker instead of buying his records, licensing is all some of these dudes got, so I say, let 'em. I'd like to know how Jamaicans saying stuff like "open your legs like a gift shop" is a play for big licensing and publishing dollars, though. Are there regional ads catering to the dbag crowd overlooking McCarren Park, say, for Papa John's, that promote products with that type of language?

Man, you guys are smart. Takin' it to the next level!!

Nuff fucking said. I love hearing "DJ's" nowadays who play on laptops (which mix the songs automatically for you, thus taking what little skill it took to become a DJ and letting the computer do the real work...they should be paying Steve Jobs instead of the DJ) validate how they use them instead of vinyl because they don't have to lug 50lb crates of records into clubs anymore. If only they had any FUCKING clue the number of amps and other heavy things real bands have to lug into a show before they perform. Oh yeah, perform their OWN music, LIVE. Not playing other people's "music". And 99% of "DJ's" don't even know how to scratch and/or juggle. Pathetic.

until you can properly work out Ableton or Serato you can't say shit.

"until you can properly work out Ableton or Serato you can't say shit."

Until you can actually play an instrument or sing you can't call yourself a artist.
