Oasis @ Heaton Park, Manchester - June 4, 2009 (Man Alive!)
Oasis Machester

Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher has promised 70,000 fans their money back after two major power cuts during their gig in Manchester.

Technical problems plagued the band's first homecoming gig at Heaton Park on Thursday night, with the show being disrupted for half an hour.

Fans paid £45 for tickets for the show, the first time Oasis had performed in Manchester in four years.

Noel said: "Thank you very very much, this is a free gig - let's have it.

"Anybody who has kept their ticket will get a full refund." [BBC]

A similar situation went down in NYC recently at a Junior Boys concert, though Oasis will have to give back much more money than the Junior Boys will (and the Junior Boys show has been rescheduled).

Videos from the Oasis show (which make it seem normal) below...

i was at the gig on thursday, and ok, they had a power cut and done their best to sort it out, they band looked as stunned as the crowd, three cheers for oasis for doing what they done due to the circumstances, it just added to how professional the band is ,, to go on and do the show anyway ,despite the couple of gremlins,,fuck all you tossers who dont agree, at least noel and liam were genuine about it and didnt try and mask it up,, i certainly wont be asking for my money back, all the disruption just added to the myth of being at the first kick off gig and they pulled it off,, it was sheer class, i was at knebworth too in 96 and ive got to say,the heaton park gig on the 4th topped that,,cheers oasis long may you rock
