The Girl is Mine

"It's so sad and shocking. I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones.

I send my deepest sympathy to his mother and the whole family and to his countless fans all around the world." [Paul McCartney]

Since announcing the three July shows at Citi Field, Paul McCartney has announced shows at FedExField in Maryland, Piedmont Park in Atlanta, and two shows at Fenway Park in Boston (August 5th & 6th). MGMT are opening both of those Boston shows, and tickets for both of them, go on sale today (Monday) at 10am.

MGMT also have shows coming up July 1st at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, August 2nd at All Points West, and other places. They recently played Bonnaroo, and apparently Bruce Springsteen hung around to check them out.

Wait a minute, Macca got over his hatred for Michael Jackson after Jacko outbid him for the rights to the Lennon-McCartney catalog? Color me skeptical.

"The Girl Is Mine" video is very autobiographical. Michael was always known for stealing chicks.

I got a baseball bat here, ready to drop it on the head of anyone who tries to type "The Girl Is MEH."

just kidding! Paul I told you, I'm a lover not a fighter!

he came and sang a day in the life with neil young on Saturday night in London....Paul not MJ

Posted by ro | June 29, 2009 6:40 AM

Did he sing just his own part ("Woke up, got out of bed...") or did he sing Lennon's part, too?

MGMT at Bonnaroo, arguably one of the worst sets of the weekend. They even admit that they are awful live...

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 10:57 AM

going to sound terrible in a stadium

it's funny how rollingstone called mgmt's bonnaroo set a career defining moment (or something like that)...they just s the d of any major label band. their debut record was definitely good imo but they are not good live. not a memorable set from that weekend by any means.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2009 11:17 AM

it was dumb of RS to say that because their career defining moment was at McCarren Pool.

Boston? That's where all the idiot democrats live who think a negro professor, who verbally accosted a police offer and accused him of discrimination, all while disturbing the peace and clearly posing as a threat to his neighbors' safety, live. Of course, now they cry about it now that their knight and shining armor, Obama, called out Sgt. Crowley. You know, the "racist" who saved the life of black basketball star Reggie Lewis. Liberals, LOL.

To The Hater,

Hey,pal, you outta move to The Deep South- and move back to another Time, while you're at it. "Negro" professor- that's rich. "Disturbing the Peace, and "threatening his neighbor's safety"- how, by just being a "Negro", right? Why don't you look at the work the man has done to educate dumb crackers like youself, instead of your tired, racist "take" on a president who actually tries to UNITE Americans, instead of the reactionary gangsters who for 8 years screwed this country to line their own pockets, You must have been a slave catcher in a previous life, and now you're just a stupid Republican race-baiter.

^^ oh wow, another whiney liberal on Brooklyn Vegan, o how original! How's the Obama kool-aid, does it taste like higher taxes?
