Man, I would so do that...unfortunately, I have a job.

Posted by Sacred Absolute Hipster Cow | June 8, 2009 10:08 AM

Who cares. The Eternal SUCKS.

Posted by wingwalker77 | June 8, 2009 10:13 AM

6.8 on Pitchfork. I guess it does suck.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 10:21 AM

It sounds like the black crows. so bad.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 10:25 AM

pitchfork is for people that can't think for themselves, you tool!

Posted by Sacred Absolute Hipster Cow | June 8, 2009 10:39 AM

Just got mine, probably ~100 or less passes available. eternal sucks but YOUTH will shred no matter what.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 10:42 AM

Shred is so 1980s you ugly fartless goat.

Posted by Sacred Absolute Hipster Cow | June 8, 2009 10:47 AM

1980s R cool

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 10:59 AM

the pitchfork review is actually pretty favorable, if not enthusiastic, which is only fair since the album itself is alright but nothing special by SY standards.

you know, there's a whole spectrum between "awesome" and "sucks". (but you have to be older than 14, mentally anyway, in order to realize that.)

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 11:13 AM

The 1980s are cool because that’s when SY actually mattered.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 11:32 AM

YOUTH doesn't shred! Radiohead shreds!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 11:44 AM

Passes still available @ 11:53 AM.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:09 PM

You think they could have given preference to the pre-order crowd. Which is to say they could have but they didn't want to. Jerk holes.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:14 PM

YOUTH does not SHRED anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:17 PM

@Anon 12:17 Did you see them at No Fun? They shredded, end of story.

Also I just laugh at anyone who pre-ordered this album: $45.00 for a 2xLP and a "bonus" LP? Fail.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:24 PM

@Anon 12:24

a) they did shred.

b) your laughter hurts.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:28 PM

i actually really like the eternal.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:53 PM

preorder crowd is probably bunch of old dudes. going this way they ensure that NYU students show up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 12:59 PM

'the eternal' is their worst album in years. If they're going to play 95% of the album promoting the album you might as well stay home

Posted by hipster poseur | June 8, 2009 1:16 PM

Hopefully they'll just play one giant hour long freeform distortion jam from hell.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 1:31 PM

Hopefully they'll just play one of their Esperanto records in its entirety.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 1:38 PM

ETERNAL SHREDS!

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:04 PM

SHRED IS THE NEW MEH! HAHA

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:05 PM

Hopefully they will play Sister in its entirety, followed by Goo.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:13 PM

I dare any one of you fucking idiots to do something half as amazing as this band would on their worst day.
Sitting online all day, trashing people who actually create things in their lives.
Get a fucking life, you goddamned losers.

Oh and btw Pitchfork sucks.
The Eternal rips so hard.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:15 PM

The Eternal: Does it rip or does it shred or is it meh? Film at 11.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:24 PM

are the passes all out?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:26 PM

>Get a fucking life, you goddamned losers.

LOL

PS Creativity sux.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 2:31 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2009 2:31 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2009 8:19 PM

your band is shredless

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2009 9:03 PM

sonic youth rules no matter what. 6.8 by pitchfork. just so you know who ever works at pitchfork mostly in their 20s, so they dont really knows music!

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2009 10:23 PM

6.9.09 sonic youth @ apple store setlist

sacred trickster
calming the snake
leaky lifeboat
what we know
anti-orgasm
antenna

hey joni

the eternal songs sounded great, but probably not worth a trip into the city for such a short set. should have expected that, it being a free in-store and all. at least it wasn't the shitty 'music' that they played at no-fun fest.

best joke of the night:

kim gordon: "You're all so silent. Like this is a temple...of technology."

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2009 11:58 PM

i hope they made some new fans with that ticket distribution scheme...

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2009 1:14 AM

is it just me or does kim's voice sound weird on the new record? maybe my stereo is broken...

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2009 1:15 AM

Good show, mega shred.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2009 8:15 AM

hey kim, maybe everyone's silent because nobody wants to applaud your tiresome, self-conscious posturing anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2009 7:48 AM

6.8 on Pitchfork - guess it rules!
