Sonic Youth

If you hung out in New York's Soho neighborhood in the early 1980s, chances are you could've caught an early Sonic Youth performing in an avant-garde loft space. A lot has changed in the last three decades. Last night, to celebrate the release of their terrific new album The Eternal, the indie-rock heroes returned to the now-gentrified neighborhood to perform a short-but-sweet set at the Apple store. one or two decent songs per album is not a good track record, SY are the yuppies they always claimed to dislike.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2009 11:56 AM

huh?

11:39 is so right. i'd love to hear them rip into becuz.

I was there regarding the avant-garde space they used to perform at. I only saw Thurston flanked by two live drummers but the SY members were always walking around.

"SY are the yuppies they always claimed to dislike."
