The Jesus Lizard @ the primavera festival - May 2009 (Miss Rosa)
Jesus Lizard

"Touch & Go Records is going to reissue the Pure EP and the albums Head, Goat, Liar, and Down on September 22, 2009. These records have been remastered and sound noticeably better than the original releases. All of the albums will include songs from the 7' singles and other rarities as bonus tracks." [David Wm. Sims]
More Jesus Lizard dates have been confirmed, and as hoped, but expected, there are shows in NYC (2 of them!). Slightly unexpected is that those city shows will come over two months after the band make an appearance further upstate at the ATP festival (which is a month after they play a show for Pitchfork in Chicago).

The NYC shows are November 16th and 17th at Irving Plaza. Tickets for the first one go on sale Friday, June 19th, at noon. The second is isn't listed at Live Nation yet. The Jesus Lizard are also playing the 9:30 Club in DC on November 19th. All dates and reissue track lists, below...

BV,

Don't forget to tell people about the Third Eye Blind show tonight @ Roseland!

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 8:41 AM

David Yow's balls.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 9:02 AM

Third Eye Blind? Thats sad..

Man Jesus Lizard is one of the best live shows you'll ever see. If you allow me to complain.. I hate buying tickets in june for shows in november.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 9:18 AM

I love how Live Nation, unlike the old Irving Plaza site, hides ticket prices from the venue and event pages. You have to click through to find tickets before they'll tell you that basic information. It's almost like they're embarrassed at how much they charge.

In this case, even though the onsale is this week, there's no mention of $ at all. But you can share the info on Facebook, that button's ready.

Posted by J | June 16, 2009 9:21 AM

This show will be at least $25

Anyone know who's drumming on this tour? Original line-up?

Posted by partyliz | June 16, 2009 10:58 AM

@9:41 AM

Indeed!

A friend of mine saw them in France recently and told me in an email the following:

David Yow said "you guys went from all over
France to see us and you had to listen to
Men Without Pants and Sunn O))) what the fuck ?
what the fuck is that shit ? I bet we're gonna be better than these bands..."

* * *

Too right! My friend said they were as good as David Yow's word.

just ask yrself what would happen if grizzly bear got hit with a glass bottle during one of their pansy shows...

>>>there's a way to a judge a band , huh ?

I love Jesus Lizard and have seen them probably 10 times or so but that statement is just stupid...

The Lizard rules above all others. They were amazing at Primavera, the magic is intact after all these years. Old farts my ass, I'm 39 and can rock with the best of them, the Lizard is the elixir of LIFE.

Two vids from the primavera show that demonstrate their prowess:

FUCK YEAH!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 5:13 PM

So I says to Anon 3:39 AM, I says:

"Hi!

I'm an "Old Fart" and you can bet your sweet young ass that I'll be there.

And remember this, one day . . . with any luck and a healthy diet . . . you too will be old.

And maybe you'll still care enough to go out and see live music.

. . . or maybe you'll just sit home and rot, waiting to die."

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 6:10 PM

I'm proudly an "old fart" who would love nothing more than to see the Jesus Lizard reunion show.
Anyone who doesn't think that's worth being excited about is a know-nothing piece of shit.

Nothing will top Scratch Acid at the Touch & Go 25th Anniversary show in Chicago a few years ago. Jesus Lizard are good but Scratch Acid were better.

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2009 9:45 PM

I am sick of these fucking guys already! like in 1991

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2009 8:29 AM

hey anon 8:29 - Why don't you shut the fuck up, and if you don't like it. Use the funny back button on your browser to take you away from this obvious torture to you.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2009 9:49 AM

incredible live band, one of the best.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2009 6:40 PM

More like bitter old farts on this blog. I was the guy who made the old fart comment at 3:49am. My aim was to get a rise out of old farts. Looks like I have suceeded.

Me: 1

Old farts: 0

another old fart here who's almost peeing his pants. this is second only to the pixies.

Old farts- 2
message board trolls- 1

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2009 10:40 PM

^^^ I couldnt find that on wikipedia anywhere.

The band thundered on, while the song title's relevance crept into the audiences' mind as they had a clear view of Yow's distended genitals and their "tight and shiny" appearance. In 1994, David Yow tried out his acting chops in Jim Sikora's independent feature "Walls In the City" with the soundtrack done by Denison Kimball Trio and released on SkinGraft Records.
