would they cancel TVOTR because of the rain? because it is like crazy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2009 5:24 PM

Anyone know TVOTR set time?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2009 5:27 PM

The Summerstage benefit shows should be postponed when the weather is as heinous as it is today. They could have called it off as early as yesterday as there was no chance of clear skies today. The thought of standing next to all you unbathed hipster doofuses smelling like wet dogs has me thinking of bailing on this show.

Lots of below face tix on CL for tonight's TVOTR show. But I guess it's against the law now to resell tickets - so you'd better stay away.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2009 9:26 PM

That was mean 9:17. All 7:43 wanted to know was if the Mondo parties were any good. No need to call him those things.

tv on the radio setlist

love dog
the wrong way
blues from down here
halfway home
crying
golden age
wolf like me
red dress
staring at the sun
DLZ
shout me out

family tree
young liars
a method

main set is probably out of order. a great show, despite the shitstorm. dirty p's tangled hipsterdom was entertaining. tv on the radio was very hit and miss, but oh my god were the hits hits. golden age and wolf like me were sublime, particularly that they were one after the other.

strange and disappointing encore though...so many great songs they could have chose from and they chose those 3. the sound also disastrously cut out at the end of 'a method', but the song was basically over by then anyway. and either tunde was singing lightly on 'family tree' or the microphone was so low it was almost off.

the rain also somehow *added* to the show. and when it stopped near the end of tvotr's set, everything got even better. people who didn't come tonight because of the rain missed out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 1:05 AM

many videos of tvotr's show here:

I agree with 1:05 - watching TVOTR in the rain felt kinda special somehow. I pretty much forgot it was raining as soon as Tunde got his falsetto working in the first song. But I disagree about the encore. Young Liars is still one of their best songs, it never fails to give me goosebumps.

Does anyone have a Dirty Projectors set list? I'm pretty sure it was all stuff off the new album, but I missed the fist couple of songs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 9:09 AM

From memory, may have order wrong, DP's setlist. Every song off the new album except "The Bride"

Two Doves
Cannibal Resource
Remade Horizon (holy shit this was nuts)
Useful Chamber
No Intention
Temecula Sunrise
Stillness is the Move
Florescent Half Dome

I'm with everyone on TV on the Radio being hit and miss at the show, but I always considered them as such.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 9:47 AM

All things considered, I thought Dirty Projectors were pretty good. And Remade Horizon was definitely the highlight. But I thought it was really fuckin lame that they went on late. It said the show will start at 630 and it didn't start until after 7. That's pretty dick anytime, but especially dick when it's shitty rain like it was last night. I dunno if it was the band or Central Park but that was really poor planning.

It was so awful last night I actually left before TVOTR went on last night. It wasn't an easy decision but after the DPs, I knew it would be a while with the changeover and whatnot and the rain wasn't looking to stop and the crowd was dead (basically a sea of umbrellas), I just thought "why am I sticking around for this, this sucks". It's too bad because I really enjoy seeing the band but that was just miserable. Maybe now i will just go see them at Prospect Park and it will be a little bit better.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 10:41 AM

lol a sea of umbrellas

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 10:49 AM

tvotr were incredible last night.
it was def. a very special show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 11:04 AM

Staring At The Sun was earlier in the set, and Dancing Choose was also in there towards the end - they ended the main set with four or five songs from Dear Science in a row.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 11:41 AM

the sea of umbrellas disappeared once tvotr went on. very cool

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 12:09 PM

Anon 10:41 you are so lame. You were already wet and just had to wait about a half hour. That was so hard? The umbrellas went down right went TVotR came out- obviously. People wouldve been killed if they kept their umbrellas up. You deserve to miss that amazing show.

Sincerely,
Venkman
(aka VenkMEHn)

Posted by Venkman | June 6, 2009 2:24 PM

"People wouldve been killed if they kept their umbrellas up."

Yeah right! Being that the average NYC crowd is too pretty jaded to dance and show any reaction at a show, I'm not sure they would have mustered up the energy to actually kill somebody.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2009 2:45 PM

the sea of sophisticated, musically literate individuals gave up on this band years ago
