I've heard the line for David Byrne is absolute insanity? I have no chance of getting in if I head there now, right?

Posted by Billy | June 8, 2009 6:34 PM

No chance. All the unemplyed are already there.

I could have sworn I heard Yeasayer playing live near my house in crown heights last night. Anyone know what that was about?

Posted by pinoy digital channel | June 9, 2009 12:13 AM

Amadou & Mariam were awesome. They played a really long show and Amadou's guitar work was amazing.

Not so awesome? The unwashed hipster couple in front of me who insisted on writhing wildly (I couldn't call it dancing) the entire show, regardless of the fact that it was really crowded and their flailing made it impossible for those behind them to see anything. Hey losers, this isn't Celebrate Brooklyn! Some of us would like to try to enjoy the show and don't want to be coated in your flying sweat.

(yes, I did move as soon as I had the chance... as did others.)

how long did the hold steady play for?

Posted by Brian | June 9, 2009 11:49 AM

Amadou and Mariam were indeed amazing. Awesome stuff!

anyone have amadou and mariam setlist from last nite's show?

Posted by bb | June 9, 2009 6:07 PM

Just got back from Africa a week ago where "flailing" in appreciation of good music is quite common actually.

I was one of the "losers" (God forbid) dancing at the Amadou and Miriam show! The band probably wouldn't approve of the entire crowd standing still at their shows to enjoy the music. What's good enough for A&M's back up singers is good for me...

I see you've chosen to misinterpret my post. I doubt you'll ever come back and see this, but just to clarify, I don't have a problem with people dancing at shows -- but I DO think it's rude to move around a great deal when space is extremely limited and there are other people less than 18 inches behind you. Common sense, dude.
