Cheveu

"Beautiful sunny weather and live music from local and international musicians drew crowds of more than 4,000 to this year's third installment of the P.S. 1 Warm Up summer concert series in Long Island City.Cheveu also played a set at Silent Barn while they were in town. More pictures from the June 18th edition of Warp Up, and a video, below...Four musical acts entertained the crowds, who came from throughout the Metropolitan area, on Saturday, July 18 to hear the music, which is part of the Museum of Modern Art's summer programming. The festival is in its 12th year.
Cheveu, a native French group, was one of the first bands to go on stage at 4 p.m. Their unorthodox style drew the crowd in with the lead singer's three microphones - each one connected to a different effects pedal, typically used for guitars.
In addition, lead singer David Lemoîne controlled the drum machine that kept the beat throughout their set. As for guitarist Etienne Nicolas, he held the rhythm and also played numerous guitar leads. Their keyboardist, Oliver Demeaux, sported a vintage Roland synthesizer from the 1970's, which is a rarity in live music.
The end product was a hybrid of house and rock music that had the audience doing a dance that seemed like a mix of the two." [Queens Courier]

I am French and I can tell you Cheveu is a bunch of worthless hipster wanna-bees, ripping off everything and everyone, and only pretending to be creative. It is a big shame that this is mostly the only French band that crosses the ocean. Believe, there are much better bands than that over there. I don't know why this buzz with Cheveu started last year, but America, you are wasting your time here.

Great to see my favorite DJ (Pieter) and bands from two of my favorite labels -- Wierd Records and Rococo Records -- represented in this article! But there was more than one band with a vintage Roland synth, based upon the photos... There in spirit...
