« Rorschach reunion dates - 5 shows - Santos in NYC included | NY Philharmonic week continues - Prospect Park tonight »

We're very excited to announce that Summerscreen 2009 continues tonight, Wednesday July 15th with a screening of EVIL DEAD 2.Note: the above picture is not of Motel Motel or Evil Dead (or Evil Dead 2). Rather it comes from the classic Motel Hell, which is probably the horror movie that Motel Motel should be playing before. That trailer below...
This year the films are screening on the blacktop in McCarren Park just above North 12th street (between Bedford Ave and Berry St) in Williamsburg.Come early and bring a blanket or a chair to sit on while you enjoy live music, delicious food from local vendors--including DUB Pies, San Loco and Van Leeuwen ice cream--not to mention beer and wine from Six Points Brewery and Wine Australia!
Doors open at 6:00pm, with a happy hour from 6:00-7:30, followed by a live performance by MOTEL MOTEL at 7:30!! Please, no pets, outside alcohol, or glass inside the park.

I USED PRESERVATIVES!
motel hell is more of a comedy than horror.

i'm sure in the proper setting they're an ok band...but whoever put together the bill for this event has some serious "theme" issues to work out.
like a lot of the people there, i went to see evil dead 2. a movie where the most memorable lines are "I'LL SWALLOW YOUR SOUL!!!" and "DEAD BY DAWN!!!"
what do we get before it? motel motel and another similarly sunshiny "indie" pop band...this did not fly for me. generally i try and not be too hard on openers for events. i know they didn't put together the bill, so i'm focusing my rage on summerstage. municipal waste or say, zombi, would have really helped set the mood a bit more.
the dj too. what the hell?! after two hours of pandering to stereotypical williamsburg fare, playing franz ferdinand and friends he put on ONE misfits song. thanks guy...but too little too late. how do people set up these events with no knowledge of the content? how can you not handle a theme? aren't people sick of listening to the same music regardless of setting?
i think a lot of people left and came back at movie time. maybe if they screen breakfast club motel motel should come back. but for evil dead?...sorry guys.
..don't get me started on the MC...
