"Before starting their encore, Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit admitted to the crowd, "We had such a crazy year of touring last year that it was like 'Oh fuck, touring again?' But you guys have changed our mind tonight." It was clear that he was being sincere. The sold out crowd at Maxwell's in Hoboken (7/17) was a rabid one. They cheered loudly after each song, listened intently to most, and sang along to a few. The band grew more comfortable as the set went on despite how hot the room got." [Blackraptor]
Scotland's Frightened Rabbit will continue touring North America, on and off, for most of July, August and September. Like Built to Spill, Frightened Rabbit played Maxwell's, the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago, and the Siren Festival in Brooklyn over the weekend (including Thursdaya)....

07.18 - Brooklyn, N.Y. @ Siren Festival
07.19 - Chicago, IL @ Bottom Lounge w/ Headlights

The NJ show was also Oxford Collapse's 2nd-to-last show before breaking up. They opened, and Oxford's Michael Pace joined Frightened Rabbit on stage for "Keep Yourself Warm". More Siren pictures, with the Pitchfork and Maxwell's setlists, and some videos below...

Maxwells had a great vibe friday. Yeah, FR music is not Zappa, its simple, sloppy rock. but it was a lot of fun and they cleary had a blast. Spoke to the band after and there all nice and not too-cool hipsters. fun time all around.

on the flip side, Bulit to Spill at Maxwells was about as fun as work. all dudes lookin at their feet. No energy, i kinda felt bad for the band, the crownd was so lame. best part some guy lit up right when they started. If youve been to Maxwells, you know its too small to be not noticed. He was dragged out in about 45 seconds. Wonder if they called the cops? I feel for anyone who spent over face for this show.

Scott also played "Poke" outside of Maxwell's. In the rain. Because he's awesome.

FR's songs are so simple that its hard to still be into the band a year after the album was released.

twilight sad on the other hand...has longevity.

saw them at siren, never heard of them before. really bland and boring. Sounds like something you'd hear on a top forties station. The singer was awful.

"Good niiiiiight it's stroke tiiiiiiiiiime
Let's get paralyyyyyysed down both siiiiides"

image every line to every song is like this and you can figure out what it sounded like

Saw them play music hall way back when I was really into their (last) album, and I loved it. Saw them at the maxwells show and I was a little bored. Sick drummer tho. Made some cool faces
