"maybe the Get Up Kids will dress up as a band worth seeing."

if you were listening to good music in the mid 90's, then you listened to the get up kids.

yeah, the get up kids were a band worth seeing IN THE 90s

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 1:53 PM

Get Up Kids = Music for virgins.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 1:53 PM

Yep! Totally agree with 1:51pm....if you were into that whole scene back in the day, you hipsters would understand...but wait you guys were probably listening to boy bands on MTV...like NSYNC or whatever that band Justin Timberlake was in.

P.S. Are Screaming Females old enough to play Mercury Lounge??? I saw the singer last week and I thought she was like 15....hmmm

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 1:55 PM

what's wrong with wanting a little nostalgia?

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:32 PM

1:59 - don't hate on nostalgia!

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:34 PM

Got my TGUK tix! Super psyched.
Screaming Females were pretty good opening for Dead Weather, but I wouldn't go out my way to see them.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:34 PM

"like NSYNC or whatever that band Justin Timberlake was in"

hahaha you're an idiot

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:36 PM

The Get Up Kids show at Gramercy a little while back was fantastic. Crowd was a little full of kids that were 9 years old at the time their old stuff came out, but the band was pretty damn awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:41 PM

nostalgia is for people who weren't there the first time around.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:46 PM

think the keyboardist will wear his superfunny Beat It jacket?

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:53 PM

i thought nostalgia was for people that WERE there the first time around and wanted to relive it again?

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:56 PM

nope, that's patheticalness.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 2:58 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 3:42 PM

the first 2 get up kids 7"s are genius - genius??!?! come on, even if you like them you cannot seriously say it's genius.

f you were listening to good music in the mid 90's, then you listened to the get up kids. - if by good music you mean emotional pop drivel, sure. even amongst that era they were the shit end of the spectrum.

if you were into that whole scene back in the day, you hipsters would understand - as someone who frequented shows of that "scene back in the day" i can attest that anyone with any taste thought they were a bunch of pompous fools.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 3:56 PM

you probably mean the 2nd and 3rd get up kids 7"s

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2009 3:58 PM

lifetime, christie front drive, promise ring, jimmy eat world & texas is the reason were all light years better than the get up kids. but sadly, not too much of that stuff stands the test of time too well.

Not sure, but it seems as if the Gramercy Theater date was axed. It's no longer listed on their myspace.
