Michael Jackson 'The Farewell' - on lots of channels now
An army of fans poured into Los Angeles from places far-flung, hoping to collectively mourn their idol in a massive ceremony.It's on live on lots of TV stations as I type this. You can also stream it on CNN.Thousands appeared to be on hand, but the atmosphere was peaceful, almost festive. People waited patiently, talking to each other, taking pictures and singing Jackson songs. Some fans were excited, others somber, as they entered the arena.
Parking lots in the area raised their prices, some as high as $30. Airports in Southern California saw a spike in bookings. And several movie theaters in the area announced special screenings of the event, which also will be carried live by some television networks and Web sites.
Police put up concrete barriers around the center, allowing only fans with tickets to the star-studded event to enter.
The first fans -- those holding the best seats -- began entering the arena at 7:30 a.m. The service is set to start at 10 a.m. (1 p.m. ET). [CNN]

true story: the father of a college friend was the lawyer who represented the kid in the 1993 molestation case that never went to court. michael jackson settled for 23 million dollars. think he was innocent?

Just because he sold millions more records than many black artists before him hardly makes his music any more substantive. Just because people lost their shit the way they did over just looking at the Beatles does not make him a hero. He was a pop star who made pop music of little importance.
James Brown was a fucking hero. Yeah, he got caught up in some shady shit - but he never did a duet with Paul fucking McCartney. Sad man who led a tortured life, but not a musical hero. "Icon" yes, Hero, no. And this whole memorial and everything surrounding his death stinks of greed and exploitation. If nothing else, the cheese factor is at a massive high right now.

If he wasn't a child molester, why did he agree to pay millions of dollars to keep people from spilling the beans on him?
