Oxford Collapse breaking up - final 2 show details (NJ & NYC)
Oxford Collapse @ Prospect Park (more by Kyle Dean Reinford)

Oxford Collapse announced on June 22nd that they are breaking up...
Hey friends,Sad. The NYC band signed to Sub Pop in 2006. Sub Pop lists four full-length albums that were released since then, though two of those are reissues that were originally released on Kanine Records in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 they shared a Kanine Records CMJ bill with Grizzly Bear at Pianos. For CMJ 2006 they played a BrooklynVegan day party in the basement of Fontana's with The Thermals. More memories HERE.
After eight years, 450 shows, and four albums, we've decided that we've reached the end of the line. To paraphrase the Grateful Dead, "what a long, strange, eye-opening, stomach-bursting, heart-breaking, bittersweet, educational, enlightening, mind-numbing, 'why-are-we-doing-this-shit?'/'who-gets-to-do-this-shit?,' absurd, amazing trip it's been." To paraphrase another sage poet, "you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em." To quote G. G. Allin, "life sucks, scum fuc."
The band's final two shows will be July 17th at Maxwell's with Frightened Rabbit (already sold out) and July 18th at Under the Tracks (508 W. 25th St) with CaUSE co-MOTION!, The Beets and Rape Excape (aka The Great Excape who are reuniting for the Woodsist Fest on July 4th) (and promised special guests as well). We're not exactly sure what the venue is like, but the band writes "Don't worry about advance tix - this place is huge!"
UPDATE: The final show has moved to COLLECTIVE HARDWARE @ 169 Bowery
Full details and more of the band's goodbye note, below...
Oxford Collapse breaking up
After eight years, 450 shows, and four albums, we've decided that we've reached the end of the line. G. Allin, "life sucks, scum fuc."Thanks go out to a million friends - all the awesome, talented people who helped us make records and put them out, everyone who put together tours for us, our families (who are still wondering when we will get real jobs), all the other wonderful and terrible bands we've loved touring, playing, hanging and eating with over the years. And of course a heartfelt thanks to everyone who ever came to see us play, bought something we were selling, said something nice, or let us sleep on their diarrhea-encrusted floors. (Except you, Branson, Missouri!)
To have one final go of it, the three of us are meeting up for a pair of shows in and around the city we called home in our time. Come out and party with us! Seriously, do not miss!!! Friday July 17th we are very psyched to be playing with old and dear friends Frightened Rabbit at Maxwell's, and Saturday July 18th, for our last show ever, we'll share the stage with best buds CaUSE Co-MOTION! under-age phenoms The Beets, and our beloved Rape Excape, freshly reformed from the rubble of Princeton '04; plus a bunch of special guests all at a post-apocalyptic outdoor warehouse space in Chelsea under the Highline! If you missed the original Last Waltz in '76, now's your chance!

yes, "Oxford Collapsed", we get it. You don't like the band. No reason to repeat it four different ways.

I can't think of a band suckier than Oxford Collapse. I saw them open a few shows, and they always ruined the party. They're SO boring and untalented with no style whatsoever.
Oh well. best of luck to you in your future projects.

Douchey band. Scumbags like Oxford Collapse need to stay in Ohio for good. They are ruining the local music scene. There are so many great bands in New York. You can tell which are from Ohio and the good ones. It's so obvious at this point.
