In a chilling final moment, Jackson's rarely-seen daughter Paris tearfully said she loved her father and that he was great. In a haunting evocation of a cycle continuing to grind on, her aunt Janet fixed her hair and dotingly but firmly told her "Speak up, honey. Speak up." It was pretty much devastating.

who makes their daughter speak her father's funeral. and shoving a mic in her face - fucking grotesque.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:39 PM
was she the kid he hung out the window?
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:39 PM
I agree with anon 4:36pm. This girl is obviously devastated that she lost her father so let's leave it at that.
One day, if any of you ever have kids (although guys, you have to be able to pick up women to be able to do that so most of you hipsters are doomed), you will realize how much they will love you and rely on you. Until then, you'll never know.
Posted by Loop | July 7, 2009 4:40 PM
Dude..is that Donell "ashy larry" Rawlings on the left side of that photo...I'm rich biotch!
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:41 PM
Um ... No one "made" her speak. She asked to say that.
What the hell is wrong with you people?
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:42 PM
Blanket looks like an Oompa Loompa
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:42 PM
One day if I ever have kids, I won't be a complete drug addict that makes Howard Hughes look like a light-weight.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:45 PM
No need to be able to pickup women, just the ability to pickup a child and dangle it over a balcony, thus demonstrating your paternal love.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 4:47 PM
comment se servir encore de ses gosses pour le biz???Merci family Jackson alors que Mickael préservait ses mômes de tout ça!!!!
Posted by BERENGERE | July 7, 2009 4:53 PM
I am disgusted that they would make that child do that! It turns my stomach. Let her mourn in privacy, she's a baby!!
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:14 PM
Hey, Janet was beaten by dad to perform too, of course she's gonna be about speaking up on the stage with the child.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:18 PM
It toally looks like they made her say that. Janet is a TERRIBLE actress, and I have a heart by the way. I cried at the end of the film Richie Rich.

THE FUCKING MEDIA!
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:40 PM
oh right 5:30, because he PLANNED to die and put her through it all.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:44 PM
"oh right 5:30, because he PLANNED to die and put her through it all."
He was responsible for his own death (and miserable last decades). His drug use was his own choice - nobody else's.
It seems neither of you understand (understood) the concept of personal responsibility.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:50 PM
perhaps she wanted to speak?
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 5:52 PM
she did want to speak -- if any of you watched the memorial, you would have seen her ask janet if she could say something.

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:14 PM

Posted by yo | July 7, 2009 6:17 PM
Yeah, that's right 6:11 - it's all somebody else's fault. Douche.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:18 PM
"take responsibility for yourself, liberals.. sheeeeesh."
Why should I take responsibility for myself if someone else will do it for me? Responsibility is deck.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:19 PM
you could tell she chose to speak if u watched from earlier on
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:21 PM

"Anybody that uses the descriptive term "deck" is a 'dick.'"
That was a really deck comment, you dick. You'll never be scene in your entire life.

What I don't get is why blacks who hate being black and only hang around with whites day to day end up getting lauded by the black community when they get in trouble or die, like O.J. or Michael Jackson? Jackson wanted to be white, and O.J.'s wife and friends were all white.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:30 PM
did you hear Cassie from the Vivian Girls died? Oh? Who gives a shit?
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:32 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 6:47 PM
She wanted to speack that was obvious if yopu watched it, not to mention she obviously had a wonderful father or she would not have had the courage to speak when she was so upset, you people are cruel and are the main reason our entertainers become driving past their own limits, have a fucking heart and respect for true talent...ingorant people..you are sad

Agreed. "Great guys" like rapist Kobe Bryant there to celebrate the life a guy who built a
pedophile's dream theme park so he could diddle
some kiddies. There's so much denial going on there that it's pitiful, but as Jackson is suddenly being sold as an icon of "black culture" the media have ignored the facts about him.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 7:21 PM
"the worthless hipsters on here are fucking cunts. plain and sinple."
Whereas you're a worthless fucking cunt without being a hipster. Hooray!
And yes - you are D-E-C-K.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 7:24 PM
Funny how BLACK Michael Jackson got as soon as he died.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 7:25 PM
7:21PM you got all the facts right? You sound like a 'great' guy!
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 7:26 PM
Al Sharpton knew the only way to save Jackson's image in death was to get out there and start promoting him as a "black icon" the second he died. Sharpton was on MSNBC about 15 minutes after the death announcement was made. Afraid of being called "racist," the media has totally backed off of the pedophile stuff and all the other weirdnesses surrounding Jackson. If Jackson had been white, he'd be buried in shame as kiddy diddler.

First off the Media Coverage of MJ is insanely over the top. I realize MJ has a lot of fans, but that just proves what saps people are. MJ was a talented entertainer, but stylistically to me it was just a bucket of slop. opium for the masses. vacuous escapism.
If you like MJ's stuff that's your prerogative. To idolize him, I think
you must be brainwashed/braindead.
If he were a truly responsible parent he would have sought help for help for his drug use. and it was massive. 50K/month. and the accusations of him being a pedophile are going to stick to him like stink on shit for the rest of eternity.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 8:05 PM
Wow, there's a lot of hate and bile here...where's the compassion?
If the answer to that is "well, where was Michael's compassion when he was doing drugs" or "where was the family's compassion when...[whatever]" then we have a real deficiency.
Kurt Cobain struggled with addiction and overdosed prior to his suicide, but I don't remember anybody complaining about the beautiful MTV VMA tribute that he received, nor the media coverage that focused on the way he changed music. There was a lot of poo flung at Courtney Love, and that was just disgusting. So let's stop flinging poo, please, and let's reflect on the tragedy, with its bright and dark sides, with love and forgiveness.

"There was a lot of poo flung at Courtney Love, and that was just disgusting. "
She wears it well.
as a matter of fact Ms LOve called Kurt an "asshole" for blowing his brains out.
btw, tell when does a "tragedy" have a "bright side"? just curious.

funny how most of you are drooling over NIN tickets douchebags....get a grip

It is too bad that MJ didn’t allow his children to develop their own autonomy that usually come naturally to children of ‘normal’ families (you know, the usual mother and father). This child has a wound beyond belief and that is why pedophiles should never be allowed to raise children.
Posted by Juanita Rosetta | July 7, 2009 9:32 PM
^^^
lots of kids come from so called "normal" families and are just as damaged. if the parents are are fucked up the kids will be fucked up.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 9:49 PM
...everyone knows that they weren't his kids, right? Has anyone read the news?
I think it's fine for Paris to speak out at the man the raised her's memorial, but the way EVERYONE in the family positioned her mic, and pulled back her hair, to make her look and sounds the best just really turned my stomach. Perhaps this is just a reaction to how I believe everyone here's own memorial services would go (private, out of the public eye), but it just seemed...wrong.
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 11:24 PM
"btw, tell when does a "tragedy" have a "bright side"? just curious."
When is death not a tragedy? And when a person dies, should the mourning also be balanced with a celebration of life?
Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2009 11:32 PM
"Kurt Cobain struggled with addiction and overdosed prior to his suicide, but I don't remember anybody complaining about the beautiful MTV VMA tribute that he received, nor the media coverage that focused on the way he changed music."
Kurt Cobain didn't fondle little children. Kurt Cobain did not seek out poor kids with life-threatening illnesses that would not call the cops on him. Kurt Cobain was never on trial for molesting kids.
Michael Jackson is burning in hell right now. He deserved a more painful death.

christ guys, a dude died, give his daughter a break :/
Posted by monsoonseason | July 8, 2009 12:21 AM
Toure suggested that his life could be examined in quarters - the Jackson 5 years, the Thriller years, the struggle to recapture lost popularity, and the demise. I doubt that a full biography would paint the one-sided pictures that either "side" argues for.
Why, then, are so many people making this a black-or-white issue? The rhetoric is George Bush-esque...he's either on the good side of history, or he's a demon. Ain't no middle ground.
And as for the Memorial Service, what did you expect? People close to the deceased decide on the details of those, so no, you're probably not going to be seeing a lot of images of Michael in a painkiller-induced daze mixed in there.

Michael Jackson, the moonwalking former child star who became known the world over as the "King of Pop" before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.I will not set in judgement over Michael Jackson, he was a great performer, and though he was accused of being a child molester, nobody really knows if that's true, or if it was just a way for someone to make quick cash. I just want to say we can't believe all that we hear, Hollywood is full of rumors. If it's true, it's in Gods hands, not ours. I say god bless his soul and my condolences to his family & loved ones. Let him rest in peace. I never knew him personally so I can't say what he did or didn't do. He paid his dues, so be it. Farewell to a great performer. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but I won't lose any sleep over the way I personally feel. So say what you will about my opinion, it's on you.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2009 8:26 AM
1:43,
"rest in peace" ? Well #1, he's a very public figure and much of the controversy about him was his own doing. He will be scrutinized
in death like any other famous person. Is it proper to say only something "nice" or should we get a full picture of his Life which
incl some very unsavory details? And #2, a lot of people are going to make a TON of $$$$$$$$ off his death, specifically his famliy, friends, and business associates. A bit grotesque, but that's the wacky world of entertainment.
Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2009 8:46 AM
I have a heart by the way. I cried at the end of the film Richie Rich.
I think I just pissed myself after reading that.

If we're comparing Kurt Cobain and MJ let me put my two cents in.
Michael Jackson was a genius while Kurt CObain was a pretty boy who wrote pretty good songs.
And by legal standards Elvis was a sex offender as well.

Whether or not Paris wanted to speak out or asked to by her aunts, I think it was outrageous. She is a child and should be allowed to grieve in private not infront of the world , especially since Michael kept his children hidden from the world most of their lives. This was not the time for her to be presented to world. She is a beautiful little girl and it was very upsetting to see her in such pain.
Posted by Moondance | July 8, 2009 10:24 PM
the family had to know (and approve) what she was going to say.
it was all about polishing MJ's as a "great dad". maybe he was, but to use a little girl in such a fragile emotional state seems at the very least shameful.
