Placebo

"With a thirteen year history that takes in five studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, Placebo are set to return with their first new album since the release of Meds in 2006. The new album, titled Battle For The Sun, [was] released on June 9, 2009 on Vagrant Records in the US and Canada." -Placebo

"Their sixth album includes lyrics about suicide and big-ass choruses that could go on an emo record." -Rolling Stone

"We want to thank everyone who bought 'Battle For The Sun' and pushed us higher in the US charts than ever before," commented the band. "It's a buzz for us and we look forward to coming over to play for you in September."

Placebo have announced a North American tour that includes an October 11th show at Terminal 5 in NYC. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday at noon. All dates, and a new video, below...

GODDAMMIT T5?!! Why keep doing shows there?!!!

do you really need to ask that question? the answer is money. its the biggest bowery presents venue.

I have access to this closed down carnival ride spot. we should TOTALLY shoot our press shots there!

oh, and wear that black fedora and a white tshirt that shows off your FULL SLEEVES.

I'll do black double brested suit vest over a tshirt, the other dude: sports coat and jeans.

it's just a touch of steam punk!

forgot to mention: it's super important that the tall dark haired guy wears NOTHING under his sport coat

Placebo puts on a great show. Can't wait!

So is Molko wearing a wig now? He was going bald big-time a few years ago. I interviewed him back when he was supposed to look like a woman. No one says that now. Too bad, Brian, but I won't go see the return of Jesus Christ at T5. Worst venue in NYC.

I don't think it is the venue. Terminal 5 can sound quite amazing if you are on the main floor, and if the sound person is skilled at making the room work.

Terminal 5 doesn't intrinsically sound bad. Kind of like Roseland. Placebo at Roseland was one of the best sounding shows I've ever seen, but with less experienced sound people that venue's sound can be a mudpit also.

And apparently none of you have been to BB King's which kills good sound dead no matter who is behind the boards.

Terminal 5 is deck.

in 2009 New York, every internet troll thinks they can talk about "sound."

from the smallest shit hole to the biggest airplane hanger, you comment losers are convinced everywhere sounds terrible. In real life, you're all desperate to say something that sounds knowledgeable and cool.

Give it a rest, you're all nobodies who barely know what the word sound means.

bv commenters. you guys aren't actually cool enough to be making up new stupid ass net lingo.

the "deck" and "scene" things that came up this weekend are both totally eye rollingly stupid bullshit.

Totally deck remark.

If Molko is wearing a rug, that is definitely deck. Then again, David Bowie and Mick Jagger have gotten away with it all these years. You have to mistrust men whose hair is thicker at age 50 than it was when they were 20.
