Kyp Malone (TVOTR/Rain Machine) @ Masonic Temple (more by Tim Griffin)
Rain Machine

The debut album of Rain Machine, the solo project of TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone, will come out September 22nd on Anti- Records. As previously reported, the album will be "produced by Ian Brennan (Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Lucinda Williams, Jonathan Richman)." You can see the album art from the record, created by Malone himself, below.

TV on the Radio has a whole mess of performances scheduled this summer. Those include a ticketed Celebrate Brooklyn show at Prospect Park on August 11th with Gang Gang Dance opening.

Iran, another project Malone performs with (sometimes), has summer dates too. Those include a short set of dates in July, and a more extended trip opening for Fruit Bats in September. That tour hits Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 14th. Tickets for that are on sale. Before that there is a July 30th gig at Bowery Ballroom with Destroyer (solo). Tickets are on sale for that too.

That beard is majestic

Posted by Travis | July 13, 2009 1:40 PM

that beard and glasses is why people think he plays deep music. Message to recently successful bands: stick to one overrated band--you haven't earned the right to a side project that sucks up all the decent slots at clubs. IT's so fucking LA actors nepotism. And Fuck you Entourage!

is that cornelius west?

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2009 2:23 PM

exactly 2:23. young white hipsters wouldn't dare not like TVOR or this pseudo-intellectual precisely because they're afraid not to like something black artists are doing music that's perceived to be driven toward a a primarily white liberal hipster audience. Whose White Whale is it now?

I had no idea what the hell he looked like (or any other member of the band) when I fell in love with TVOTR's music. If it doesn't move you emotionally, physically & cerebrally - it's just not for you. Move on and find something you DO like.

As for the solo album cover art - weeellll, let's just say I hope the music is A LOT better!
