sunn O))) rattling the Knit. it closed (sort of) soon after. Coincidence? (Damien Neva)
sunn

As previously prophesized, sunn O))) have announced a date at Brooklyn Masonic Temple on Septmber 22nd. Tickets are on sale. Exciting, no doubt, but what's AS exciting is that much like last year's Shoshin/GrimmRobes show at Knitting Factory (with Thou and Tony Conrad), the band has brought some exciting support along from the ride: Earth & Eagle Twin!

Earth, who recently reissued their Radio/Live LP on Southern Lord, currently has one other date on their schedule, July 24th in Seattle at the Capital Hill Block Party. Members of Earth (as well as Burning Witch) are also involved in Master Musicians of Bukkake, who released Totem One on Conspiracy in May.

Eagle TwinSo just who is Eagle Twin? Eagle Twin contains one Gentry Densley of Iceburn fame, who also recently did time with sunn-er Greg Anderson in Ascend. The band is releasing their debut LP The Unkindness Of Crows via Southern Lord on July 21st, and have dropped off a ferocious new sample in the form of "Murder Of..." available for download above. Eagle Twin, who made their presence felt at SXSW, is scheduled to join sunn O))) on all North American dates (below).

In other Southern Lord news, recent signees Black Cobra will release Chronomega, their new LP on Sept 29, 2009. Featuring production by Billy Anderson and boasting a cover by southern sickos BuzzOv*en, the band is currently streaming "Negative Reversal" on their myspace.

Meanwhile, another band that shared many stages with Eagle Twin during SXSW, It's Casual, has scheduled an east coast show at Union Pool for August 23rd supporting the mad magicians of Wizardry.

My God. I'm moving to Prospect Heights next week. I'm going to be walking distance to this!

Is Attila performing with them?

Thanks.

Just a general question. I have only seen this band once, on the "Black One" tour with Boris opening up. Does this band's live performance vary much? I enjoyed "Black One" but I found the live show was completely different.

They looked great and were undoubtedly the loudest band I have ever seen but they kinda just stood there and played the same note for about 70 minutes. Very little vocals, riff variation, or anything bearing resemblance to the album. I also enjoy their new one but would hate to pay $15 to see that same set again.

Just curious? Thanks

They are kind of the same live I have seen them twice but Earth, on the other hand, is really fantastic and dynamic. The Masonic Temple is a very cool & unique venue with great sound though (Throbbing Gristle destroyed earlier this year) so this could be a great show. Sunn may have changed their live attack slightly since Monoliths & Dimensions came out.

Please come to TX. (preferably Austin or Marfa)
Tell me Texas doesn't feel these every summer )))

Posted by TXn | July 14, 2009 8:23 PM

according to greg, this tour is taking monoliths & dimensions on the road. this will not be your dad's sunn show.

Sunno are one of the most mind-numbingly pointless bands i've ever seen/heard. I just don't get it...
I'm sure I'm not the first one to say that...

I love how the guy who comes in to criticize sunn (which is how it is pronounced) refers to them as sunno. Way to go! You must know what you are talking about.

Sunn O))) also has a Pittsburgh date Sept. 17, with Eagle Twin opening. You can go ahead and fill in your own routing at home.

Look for me, I will have pot brownies.

...zzzz O)))

Seriously boring as hell. "Mind-numbingly pointless" doesn't even begin to describe it.

"I love how the guy who comes in to criticize sunn (which is how it is pronounced) refers to them as sunno. Way to go! You must know what you are talking about."

did i offend you? How ever the fuck you spell it... this band is a pile of shit. Anyone who says this is good has no fucking clue what they are talking about.
I don't give a fuck how it is spelled... they suck and so do you.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2009 11:17 AM

^^ "However the fuck you spell it" not "How ever the fuck you spell it."

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2009 11:24 AM

BLACK COBRA!!

^^ "However the fuck you spell it" not "How ever the fuck you spell it."

WRONG. The original comment was correct. You are wrong. Stop trying to be all smart and shit. We all know that only dumb mother fuckers listen to Sunn anyhow. Nice try though! Keep studying your grammar good buddy!

"sunn (which is how it is pronounced)"

um... Are you sure it's pronounced 'Sunn'? I thought it was supposed to be pronounced 'Sun'. Please set me straight on that.

With that said, I'm thrilled to be able to see Earth, after last year's regrettable cancellation.

Please explain pronunciation difference between sunn and sun. Anonymous BV Commenter/Linguist 12:46.

Though it's spelled "Earth"... it's not pronounced "Earth". It's pronounced "Erf".

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2009 1:07 PM

it's pronounced "Blacque KObra" you dumb shits.

However, adverb
Definition: in whatever way, manner, or state

Thanks buddy but the original statement was incorrect. Want me to enroll you in 1st grade? Maybe you too can "get all smart and shit."

from Language.com-
when "ever" is used to emphasize "how", meaning ‘in what way or manner’, it is written as a separate word:
How ever did you get here so quickly?

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2009 3:38 PM

"Erf"

haha

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2009 3:48 PM

message to the unenlightened...

sunn o))) is meditative thunder...

it is an jaw dropping, awesome experience...

one that is not, obviously, for everyone...
