Did anyone get NIN tickets? I nabbed Bowery. Whoo Hoo!

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:11 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:14 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:14 PM

HOLY TITS ON A DONKEY I GOT TIX TO WEBSTER HALL!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:16 PM

i got tickets to webster as well. so did my friend. this was almost too easy. i'm scared.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:24 PM

The NIN site is bullshit. Couldn't even get the site to load 10 minutes BEFORE 5. So much more frustrating than getting in and just being too slow.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:25 PM

agree with 5:25, it was fucked for a fair amount of folks

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:26 PM

thanks

Posted by porno | July 17, 2009 5:27 PM

For NIN, from what I'm hearing people either got tickets seemingly easily or the site wouldn't load at all.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:28 PM

i logged on at 4:30 to make sure i could get in and that my music today account was still good. stayed on the website and occasionally hit the "more info" button until about 4:59 when all of a sudden it said i was then in a waiting room

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:29 PM

I'm still in the NIN "Virtual Line," but a message came up saying "New York Tickets are currently sold out." Fuck that shit. I too couldn't even get it loaded 10 minutes before the sale time.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:29 PM

I finally got a Webster Hall ticket at 5:20, after refreshing about 200 times.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:29 PM

since both my friend and i got tickets, who wants to be my guest?? lol.

how much money do you think i can get for a ticket at webster????

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 5:29 PM

I won the Paul McCartney tickets!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2009 6:32 PM

I won Paul McCartney tickets too! Just got back. Great time! Thanks, BV!!! That made up for not getting NIN tickets today. Well, almost. But it definitely cheered me up. :)

Posted by M | July 18, 2009 1:02 AM

got in and im stealing the flip.

Posted by | July 18, 2009 2:53 AM

also got in the flip thing. (and failed the nin game).
does anyone have any details about this flippin' thing?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 3:06 AM

anymore details about the McCartney flip video thing? Any restrictions about what we can bring w/ us? All i got was a cryptic email response... thanks bv!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 3:37 AM

Is this a scam?

Posted by daytracing | July 18, 2009 3:41 AM

I got an email at 2:33am saying that I got in for Saturday night....even though I sent my email to them right when the BV post went up. It gets sent from the same account you send it to, but comes from the name "jessica z". I got it for Saturday night.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 3:54 AM

Suspicious indeed. But I'm optimistic about it, not sure why.
I sent in mine almost 2 hours after the post and got in for Tuesday.

Thanks BV!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 4:11 AM

Can anyone confirm that got in with the flip last night?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 8:40 AM

Yes please....what are the details? I was contacted as having won for tonight, thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 8:58 AM

BV, what's your source on this flip phone contest? A link? An e-mail?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 9:06 AM

Selected for Tuesday's night show at Citi. Seems to good to be true. If its a scam it will only cost me $4.50! FU MTA

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 9:07 AM

I got an e-mail from jessica z at 2:21am to shoot Saturday's show. I guess it's legit since you guys got ones like that too?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 9:20 AM

OK, Jessica Z is legit. However, the win isn't without it's bullshit. When we all met up they gave us working personnel passes and said we could shoot from wherever we wanted, except backstage. However, security keep pushing me further and further away from the stage. Couldn't even get close. And if you stop to shoot, forget it. Security tells you to take your seat and when you say "I don't have a seat, I am supposed to be filming" and they say "not my problem, keep moving".

So be prepared to shoot from way the fuck in the back

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 9:49 AM

It's no scam. They just want as many people filming (parts of) the show from all over the stadium on their Flip cam. They did something similar for Daft Punk, though I don't think that footage amounted to anything. They told me they didn't know what the footage would be used for, if at all, but they wanted to have it shot regardless. Think that Beastie Boys concert film ("Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!").

As far as restrictions, I don't really think there are any. I was told to show up at 7:45pm. You get an all-access badge that gets you everywhere but on stage & back stage. I roamed all over-- from the very front of the stage to the nosebleeds. They just ask you to shoot footage off & on. The cameras held an hour of footage bu the show itself is a little over 2 hours.

I don't know about bringing a +1 though. The e-mail didn't stipulate, but I would assume that 1 e-mail = 1 admission/camera. But I forgot to ask about that. It didn't matter though-- by the time I got the confirmation e-mail I didn't even have time to think about asking a friend... I just dropped what I was doing & rushed to the subway! Other people I talked to shooting the show on the Flip cams were by themselves too. So if you want to bring a friend, have them e-mail I guess.

Oh, and for the people who want to just steal the Flip cams, I don't think there's any need to. I think they mail them to you when they're done uploading the footage. That's why they asked for your mailing address. (I don't really care so I didn't ask, therefore I can't really confirm, but that's what another Flip cam-er told me.)

Posted by M | July 18, 2009 9:58 AM

I forgot to mention that at the end of the night, you just turn in your Flip cam to where you picked it up. Simple. (They e-mail you the footage you shot too, I can confirm that.)

Posted by M | July 18, 2009 10:00 AM

Thanks for posting the info. Sounds like a mixed blessing!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 10:22 AM

Also, the fellow flip winners last night were really cool. Nice meeting you all!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 10:27 AM

What kind of flip cameras were they?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 10:29 AM

I got in too for tonight. Should be interesting. Waht time did the show start last night?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:28 AM

To last post. When did you apply?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:30 AM

I applied this morning. Anyone else apply today and get one?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:31 AM

I applied Yesterday and got email @ 2:20am

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:36 AM

Doesn't matter what time the show starts. Go at the time they tell you to show up. You're kind of doing a job for them. This ain't no free Pool Party show!

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:51 AM

was just curious if it satrted at 9 or 8

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 11:53 AM

I read that paul came on stage at 8:55

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 12:53 PM

thanks

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 12:56 PM

so to the ppl who shot last night... ultimately worth the trip and effort?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 3:32 PM

The trip & effort?! It's only Queens! $4.50 on the subway! Yes, I'd say a Paul McCartney concert is worth $4.50! And it didn't take much effort to shoot. It was fun. I can't believe people are debating this. I wish I could go back tonight & Tue!

Posted by M | July 18, 2009 4:16 PM

so do the people who won get a +1?
my friend won i really wanna go haha

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2009 4:32 PM

this show was amazing. the email gave the necessary info. we were asked to film up to an hours worth of material with these flip cams with a ltd edition design of paul mccartney's newest album cover. you give them back at the end of the concert. they download the material for an official paul mccartney docu of the tour (they may or may not use your footage). and then they send the flip cam with footage back to you in the mail.

i have to say, i was really lucky. i was front row center for this concert - surreal and memorable. not everyone who won was so fortunate. for some reason, other winners were chased away from the front by security. the passes we had were supposed to ensure that we could go anywhere in the stadium except back stage.

the beatles songs were awesome - you know you can't go wrong. highlight for me was definitely a day in the life - woke up/ got out of bed/ dragged a comb... (OMG)

the only complaint i had were the flames during live and let die. if you were in the front row, they were too big to be close for comfort. it was actually terrifying.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2009 1:16 AM

oh, and we didn't have to suffer through billy joel tonight! yes!

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2009 1:19 AM

did not miss mr. joel this evening. awesome time. I'll be awake for a few hours...

Flip Cam Contest Info:

Ok, here's how it went for everyone going Tuesday. When you get to CitiField, go inside the entrance mentioned in the e-mail. The name given is that of a young woman & she'll be inside in one of two places - either a small room immediately to the right of the entrance or in the lobby itself. Be there at the time you're told to be there! You'll be assigned a camera by number (there are 3 different ones, 2 with art from Paul's latest Firemen CD & 1 with his signature - you don't get to choose. They'll have the names of all the winners on a laptop. The camera is about the size & shape of an iPod Nano. Pretty sleek! You get a very brief explanation of what they ask of you & how to work the camera, but here are the basics:
1) Power on the upper right corner.
2) Zoom in & out when the power is on by using the + or - button.
3) You have an hours worth of space to fill. Film whatever you want, from action on the stage, crowd shots, pre-show goings on, etc.

There is a downside, though. We're given passes to get anywhere but on & backstage. Not quite. You can't get into the first section of seating. The camera has a decent zoom, though, for its size. I spent most of the night in the center of the ground next to the area where wheelchair concertgoers were seated.

At the end of the night, return the camera in the same area it was distributed. They'll upload the video & mail it back to you very soon.

Thanks to Paul & everyone who helped organize it! I hope some of the footage can actually be used for something special!

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2009 1:39 AM

I was up front and center as well. You have to be persistent. Security people on the floor told me they knew about the camera thing but no one goes up to the front floor section w/o ticket. Finally the isle all the way to the right the dude let me in. That was it.

I had two additional cameras with me, so I taped the whole show. I will either post a link in comments or e-mail to bv.

The woman told us that there were only 30 passes per show so you cannot get a +1 or anything like that.

anyway, pretty fucking awesome.

Posted by gjk | July 19, 2009 1:41 AM

thanks for the info guys, I am actually excited about Tuesday now that I know it's for reals

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2009 2:46 AM

I actually got to outside the dressing rooms (don't ask me how, just walking through the tunnels) but they wouldn't let me in. it was in that tunnel behind home plate, bunch of music biz people or groupies or whoever milling around outside. I got that on tape but of course they have it now...

Like I said before I tried 3 or 4 different aisles and got turned away. Finally on the aisle all the way to the right I got in and moved back toward the middle. Got in front and center and taped the whole show from there.

I just wanted to thank everyone at Brooklyn Vegan for posting this information, and thanks to everyone on the boards for all the good feedback. It was an amazing experience last night, everything was easy, everyone was kind, the show kicked butt -- I've been grinning from ear to ear all day.
