The Flaming Lips

As previously announced, the World's most lovable band, THE FLAMING LIPS, will release a trio of brand new songs from their forthcoming album beginning today [7/28]. The "Songs From The Future Album Embryonic," 3-track EP will be available for sale via the band's newly redesigned web site. Go to: http://www.flaminglips.com/ for complete details, concert updates, merchandise and general good vibes.

"Songs From The Future Album Embryonic EP," will contain: "Convinced Of The Hex," The Impulse," and "Silver Trembling Hands;" just a tasty taste of things to come in the form of EMBRYONIC, their new studio album to be released later this year. [Warner Brothers]
The Flaming Lips are currently in Australia (7/26-2/29), and are then going to Japan, and then they play various dates in the US and Europe in August and September leading up to their September 13th ATP NY gig where they are also curating the lineup of that entire festival day. On July 19th they played the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago. More pictures from that set below...

to be honest, aside from race for the prize, she dont use jelly and do you realize (all the songs that were confetti/balloon laden), the show was very underwhelming. especially the slow acoustic multiple stopping versions of yoshimi and fight test. i just wanted to dance to fight test.

but the madness of race for the prize and the key change in do you realize were some of the happiest moments of the weekend

"3-track EP will be available for sale via the band's newly redesigned web site"

that marketing strategy is as tired as crowdsurfing in a giant hamster ball. haven't todays artists learned anything from Radiohead?

i don't think the arcade fires think that the flamer lips are the "world's most lovable band".

the new songs sound very promising

Let me guess, the used clips from 90210 and Jon Stewart to start off songs. Or a naked "golden" during Do You Realize.

It's the same gags and gimmicks during the last 10 years. Ronald Jones needs to get some meds and join the band again and make them rock out.

she don't use jelly is the worst novelty song this side of push the little daisies. why on earth are they playing that one, and ignoring the vital stuff?

I liked the Flaming Lips when Wayne was capable of shutting the fuck up. Dude is one of the most annoying people in music.

They played Bad Days? I haven't heard that one since the Soft Bulletin tour.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 12:43 PM

the crowd booed when wayne announced they were going to play bad days

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 12:49 PM

Bad Days is the best song on the list..people are clueless!

The whole plastic bubble ball and confetti schtick is getting very predictable and boring now.

Hey, on the bright side, only one song from Mystics
