Tyvek

After a short time off due to the medical issues of a member, Michigan's Tyvek are back in action. Their current tour hit Silent Barn in Queens on Friday (7/24) and Cake Shop in Manhattan on Saturday 7/25). Both dates were with the silly Coconut Coolouts and the silly Personal and the Pizzas. Personal and the Pizzas also played played WFMU on Saturday. You can listen to that.
NYC's The German Measles were added last minute as opener to the Cake Shop show. That's the gig Tim photographed. More pictures from the show below...

personal and the pizzas were fun. "this next one is called 'no one makes my girlfriend cry but MEY"
i'd heard a lot about but wasn't impressed with tyvek. maybe it's like an affirmative action deal because detroit is so brutal these days.

"bassist in tyvek is beautiful..."
having Dave Mustane for a father-in-law would rule.

nothing to do at work today so here's my buffalo chips on the cake shop show:
german measles = so unbelievably horrid, they made my teeth hurt.
coconut coolouts = as far as good time, west coast party vibe, sonics style, garage goes - they were great.
personal and the pizzas = it's like andy kaufman meets the ramones meets a 24" pizza. good times, catchy tunes, extra greasy.
tyvek - neither here nor there to me. kind of went in one ear and out the other.. maybe a little too anglo-nerd for me.
