Wavves broke his wrist skateboarding, but is still scheduled to play Bowery, P4K Fest, a skate park benefit...
Pitchfork reports that Nathan Williams of/aka Wavves "broke his wrist in a skateboarding accident" on July 12th.
Despite that, Williams is still scheduled to go on with his upcoming shows, the first of which is tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15th at Bowery Ballroom in NYC. Opening will be Woods, Real Estate (who both play the Cameo Gallery the next night) and Popo. Tickets are still on sale.
After that he'll be playing Pitchfork Festival on July 18th and two SoCal dates, one of which is a benefit for a skate park with No Age.
These will be Williams's first shows since canceling his European tour after an incident on stage at Primavera Sound on May 28th.
All tour dates, with a clip of Williams discussing his favorite records, below...

Skateboarding? Is he 12 years old?

yeah, nirvana's "nevermind" is incredibly underrated. no hits or millions of albums sold from that one...

Popo fucking wail

Back off skateboarding

nirvana fans tend to underrate nevermind. the media inflated it, and the production is ridiculous, so it's easy to let that one collect dust when you have in utero and bleach at your disposal.

in my formidable years? kill me.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2009 10:59 AM
he said what?
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2009 11:04 AM
honestly...Nevermind is beyond a dumb answer. 10:57 is right on...Bleach/Incesticide/In Utero come before Nevermind...which was way too poppy and clean of a feel imo.
he probably just bought Nevermind at Tower Records last week...asked the store clerk for advice.

'Nevermind' was "overlooked"? I hear that Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' album was a real sleeper too. This guy is a fucking retard. I want those 45 seconds of my life back.

Haah. My "formidable" years. What a doofus. Stick to making music.
Wait, just stick to skateboarding.

lol. this guy is a moron. they did put him on the spot but still.

I don't think any of his years have been formidable yet, but he's young, so let's not give up hope. Hahaa, what a douche.

Nevermind became Nirvana's first number one album on January 11, 1992, replacing Michael Jackson at the top of the Billboard charts.[34] By this time Nevermind was selling approximately 300,000 copies a week

Not to me it didn't. I never quite understood the popularity of that album. Credit MTV for spoon feeding America I guess. I did pick up In Utero though, cus it was more extreme.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2009 12:06 PM
"it was more extreme."
Did it shred?
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2009 12:20 PM
I vote Wavves this time.
Nevermind is arguably overlooked currently (post-important?), kids wouldn't be caught dead saying it's their 'favorite album' and it comes up ironically rather than earnestly (c.p. Harlem).

you people are fucking idiots. Nevermind is a fucking incredible album...
my god, what have we fucking come to when people are so afraid of being posers that they disown Nevermind. shame.

nathan does better on camera here than any of you would do.
not one of you losers could stand the scrutiny you hoist upon these sudden indie stars.

yeah, nevermind is awesome-- i love it's pop-ness. and seriously, he didn't say anything douchelike in this piece. if you wanna hate him on principle, fine. But he's written about 3 great songs, which is a lot more than most people ever will.
