DOWNLOAD: WAVVES - Mickey Mouse (MP3)
Wavves

WAVVES' Nathan Williams successfully performed with a broken wrist at the Bowery Ballroom and Pitchfork Festival, but ended up canceling his scheduled appearance at L.A.'s the Smell to get surgery on the fracture (actual x-ray pic which he posted to MySpace above). In the note announcing the surgery, he also posted a demo for the song "Mickey Mouse." He wrote, "This was a demo that I never ended up coming back to and probably wont end up doing anything with but jam on it n-e-wayz." You can get that track above.

WAVVES' post-surgery plans include almost two months of touring with fellow California band Ganglians (who visited NYC for a pair of shows in July).

The tour will stop in NYC for a show at Santos Party House on Thursday, Sepember 24th and a Todd P show the Friday, Sept. 25th. Tickets for the Santos show are on sale. All dates below...

mickey mouse is a decent track...though it feels like a fat man running and panting on his way towards wall-of-sound country; only to give up and eat a box of donuts.

wavves sucks bradford cox.

You guys really like to put me on the spot

Um ok, so Nathan Williams' wrist fracture.

The reason that I like this wrist fracture so much, uh, aside from the fact that it's amazing is, um, I feel like it was kind of overlooked when it actually came out and now it's like this absolute classic wrist fracture. But, uh, when it was actually reviewed, when it came out, it really didn't do very...I mean it did well, but it didn't do extremely well. Rolling Stone at the time gave it like..I think 2 out of 5 stars or something like that. And then when they re-released it they said it was 5 out of 5 stars, when they did the next review. But it was just a very important wrist fracture in my formidable years and, um, it's a classic pop wrist fracture.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 6:41 PM

6:28 - :D
that will never get old.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 6:47 PM

it was old the first time he did it. think how much time that guy spends repasting and changing the proper nouns each time. what a loser.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 7:18 PM

Wavves more than redeemed himself at Bowery. now get with the times and move on. He's solid, his songs are good, let the guy be.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 7:26 PM

God just go away.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 8:11 PM

I'm not going anywhere.

Posted by Margaret | July 28, 2009 9:17 PM

7:18- I know, it must literally take seconds.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2009 11:03 PM

Why the old-school Herbert screw instead of an Acutrak? The operation must have been done in the 80s or in Mexico

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2009 12:51 AM

i don't think i'm mentally prepared to be a returning wavves fan. nathan, you took it all out of me the first go around.

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2009 2:12 AM

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2009 8:56 AM
