The rain puts some of tonight's outdoor music in question.
Due to the threat of inclement weather, this evening's 6:00 pm performance of SITELINES: A Space Funk Invasion by Nicholas Leichter Dance has been cancelled. Future performances will go ahead as scheduled.Another show that is cancelled (possibly rescheduled) is Marc Ribot at Hudson Square. Celebrate Brooklyn hosts a benefit (aka not free) show with Jackson Browne
at the Prospect Park Bandshell (still happening). Karsh Kale & Timeline, Gamelatron and Forward Motion Theater will be inside at the World Financial Center's Winter Garden (as originally planned).
The cast of The Mighty Boosh will be at Other Music at 6pm and Bowery Ballroom tonight. Both are free, but Bowery probably requires you to your MySpace profile printed out with MySpace Secret Standup as your friend.
Paul McCartney plays his third of three Citi Field shows tonight, and there's a chance he'll make an appearance at MSG in October.
Tortoise returns to NYC after its Pitchfork Fest appearance for a show at (Le) Poisson Rouge.
The Roots continue their Highline Ballroom residency.
Tom Jones plays Beacon Theater. His last NYC show was at Terminal 5.
Sexmob and Fight the Big Bull play an early show at Joe's Pub. The latter comes back for the late gig with Lee Fields and The Phenomenal Handclap Band.
The ESP-Disk label brings jazz acts Mary Halvorson & Jessica Pavone and Talibam to the Bowery Poetry Club. At the Blue Note, the Bad Plus' Ethan Iverson plays with Charlie Haden (who's there all week). Catch Ethan with his band at the Highline Piano series in August.

Went to the Boosh signing, it was very rushed to accommodate as many fans as possible, but they were super nice, totally worth it.

"just left mccartney. to be honest, the show kinda sucked."
WHAT????????????????? Please give the reasons. It was my first time seeing him and I thought it was amazing. I feel really lucky to have seen it too, for entertainment and historical reasons.

just came back from flip-filming mccartney, it was fun actually, except that most of the security at the floor weren't really in the loop, and it was almost impossible to get close

The guy who said the show was boring is a dunderhead
The show was great. To the guy right above this getting up front was a tricky affair. Security on the floor knew what was going on they just chose to limit the number of us who could get close especially since the mayor was there who I
might add i got on film much to the chagrin of his detail. The trick was before the show started to go up front and introduce yourself to as many security you could find. Make small talk. Worked like a charm. I could never get down the center aisles but easily on the sides and then just walk through to the middle right in front. Myslef and another guy even got to film from inside the security pit for a few minutes. I got some amazing footage that will hopefully be in the DVD
All of us who got to film and got a brand new limited edition McCartney engraved flip cam owe a huge thanks to Jennifer and of course to Brooklyn Vegan who made this possible. So much fun. Thank you

personally it seems like a waste if they give you a camera and all you do is run up front to film PM. Didn't they have professionals actually filming up close? More like you wanted to have the best view for yourself.
my seat was in the back way on top - and I could of gotten some great footage of young people dancing up a storm to PM.

just for the record - I filmed from almost all the floors and mezzanines, and half of my footage is audience.

Mighty Boosh was such a hassle to get into! Got in for free but FUCK those security guys, they wanted 20 bucks apiece for FREE show~~they put on a fun comedy-bit/music thing said they will be back!

back from citi...the security on the most part acted like shit. One of them almost knocked my camera from my hands and another two asshole guards were shouting loudly right into my camera. seriously, WHAT The FUCK! I would have gladly heeded them if they had shown some single trace of decency/common courtesy. so much for the "vip" pass
That really put a damper to my evening...
---------------
On the other hand, Paul McCartney and his band up there were on top of their game. There's a reason why he's a legend and i'm glad to have experienced that talent live in concert.

Tortoise setlist anyone?
Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2009 10:49 AM
I got footage of the scene outside the dressing room or vip room or whatever it was where they hang before the show. It was in a tunnel behind the home plate. Happened on it completely by chance.
Don't blame people who wanted to get up front, as far as I was concerned I wanted to see show first and film 2nd. Footage will probably be hardly usable. FYI there were no other professional camera crews, there were the guys set up on a dolly in front of the stage and two cameras on boom rigs, that was used for stadium screens in show. There was only 1 photograper by the stage in the security pit area shooting the entire show.
