Free outdoor music tonight includes Ballin’ the Jack at Hudson Square and King Britt: Saturn Never Sleeps: Sun Ra-lectric at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. The latter show is described as “a night of sonic and visual funk taking micro-edits of Sun-Ra source music combined with live experimentation and video collage.” See a video preview, and clip from a previous Sun Ra-lectric performance, below.

The Roots continue their residency at the Highline Ballroom. They’ll be headlining the Diesel U:Music show this Thursday at Webster Hall.

There’s a last minute show with Pink Noise, Gary War, Florida and Columboid happening at Silent Barn tonight.

Steely Dan play their 1977 album Aja in its entirety at Beacon Theatre. It’s the first of eight “Classic Album (Plus)” shows for the band at the venue — they’ll be playing another Aja night as well as Gaucho, The Royal Scam and Internet Request Night shows.

Pete Yorn kicks off a two night run at Webster Hall with Zee Avi.

Green Day and Kaiser Chiefs play a second Madison Square Garden gig tonight.

Ethan Iverson and Reid Anderson, two thirds of the Bad Plus, kick off a weeklong run with drummer Paul Motion at the Village Vanguard tonight.

YACHT plays a CD release show (after the boat gig last night) with Special Disco Version (aka a DJ set by LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy & Pat Mahoney) and Bad Brilliance at Santos Party House.

The Delancey hosts a screening and premiere party for the Todd P Goes to Austin documentary. The night will feature sets by Team Robespierre and The So So Glos.
