it is actually the park department's decision, not jelly's... and they canceled the outdoor show because the forecast says thunderstorms later. very cool they made up for the ridiculousness by adding the 2nd show.

It didn't rain a single drop in Brooklyn after 3 PM. It would've been cool if they could've just waited it out for like an hour.

Seriously, almost every Pool Party last summer would've been canceled under today's conditions.
Last summer, I would get to Brooklyn, and it would be pouring, and then it would stop, and by the time the headliner was on, it would be f'ing gorgeous and sunny.
This happened during Hold Steady, and the Breeders.

After I saw the line at the bowl, I just walked to the Brooklyn Brewery and drank.

@Anon5:08 - Just a reminder that BV is one of the most influential indie music blogs in the metro NYC area. I'm sure JellyNYC contacted him with constant updates so that he posts them because they know the word will spread that way.

Williamsburg Waterfront was supposedly flooded according to Bradford Cox, so rain wouldn't have mattered.

Awesome show. They talked about aftershow parties at Silent Barn, Death by Audio and Shea Stadium. Anyone know exactly what's going on at those venues?

I saw the second show. The concept was really special and all the bands seemed to want to "jam" on other band's songs whenever they got the chance. Mostly it worked...and when it didn't, no one gave a fuck because it was the spirit of the event that counted. I'm going to be tired as Hell tomorrow at work...and it was totally worth it! Great job...special night!

p.s. Even that Ed guy opener with nothing but a floor tom and a mic had me with that one "Transvestite" singalong song. It was like some true post-punk shit from the 80s!

walked into the second show during the opener, no line whatsoever. everyone killed it so hard.

the first show was fucking incredible. maybe it was just having to wait around for a few hours, but jesus christ was that a high point of the summer.

Got in around 11:30 for the second show. No line, just walked in. Not too crowded also, but nicely filled. such good.

Brooklyn Brewery was open yesterday, despite what their website may say. They were open from noon til 6.

Late show had an incredible crowd, round-robin itself was great but not amazing, one of the best shows I've ever been to.

this round robin thing was a great idea. perfect. the second show was "a weird fucking show" in the words of dan deacon himself, but it was really great of jelly and all of the bands to play a second. i didn't even expect them to play the 7 o'clock one, since the entire thing was free and no one was really owed anything. really really cool. kudos

started waiting at 6 - got a wristband for the second show at 8:30 - left tired & sweaty at 2. good, fun show, but mostly i'm commenting to say thanks to BV for the reliable updates, and screw you to the impy commenters posting misinformation just for a laugh or to scare people away from trying to get in.

Pretty much anyone and everyone who wanted to get into the second show got in.

Holy mother of god those opening acts were horrible.

Highlights of the afternoon:

- Trust fund kids looking all stressed in the rain
- Cops busting guys with "open containers" then telling them "the ticket will get thrown out no problem don't worry"
- Waiting on line for like 4 hours and meeting some totally awesome people
- ED SCHRADER
- One of the guys from Cerebral Ballzy doing a stage dive with 10+ feet of hangtime during Eraser

I wish I had a trust fund! That show was hard to produce, dudes.
